Kestramon 11.0.0
What's new
Kestramon 11.0.0 - faster game, new settings, every mod up to date
EVERYONE MUST UPDATE: the server runs the new mods, so the old pack cannot join any more. Update the pack in the CurseForge app (or reinstall it) before you play.
FASTER GAME (Kestramon client 5.30.0)
- Much more FPS when Pokemon are around, on every preset. On our test PC with 40 Pokemon around (old version -> new, each with its own preset view distance): Low 216 -> 303 FPS, Medium 220 -> 290, High 70 -> 128. Cinematic: about 20% more with many Pokemon around.
- With shaders on (High and Cinematic), Pokemon and mobs are drawn the fast way again: on our test PC about 20% more frames with 40 to 70 Pokemon around, same look.
- Less memory on Low and Medium: the game gives memory it no longer needs back to your PC sooner.
- Fixed: raid den crystal beams made the game draw all creatures one extra time on every frame, even with no raid den near.
- Fixed: a small slowdown in how the shader mod handled memory for drawing creatures.
NEW IN VIDEO SETTINGS (Kestramon page)
- Pokemon animations: Full, Smooth, Balanced or Fast. Pokemon far away update their legs, tails and wings a little less often; walking and turning stay smooth.
- Pokemon draw distance: Pokemon further away than this are not drawn. A Pokemon you ride is always drawn.
- Pokemon shadows: All, Near (only Pokemon within 16 blocks) or Off. Only matters with shaders on.
- Fast models with shaders: on by default; turn it off only if models look wrong with your shader pack.
- Free unused memory: gives memory back to your PC sooner (on for Low and Medium).
VIDEO PRESETS
- New view distances: Low 6 chunks, Medium 8, High 10, Cinematic 12 (High and Cinematic were 16, Low was 4). If you use a preset, the update sets this for you; Custom keeps your own.
- The Video Quality screen shows how much RAM each preset is meant for: Low 2-3 GB, Medium 4 GB or more, High 6 GB or more, Cinematic 8 GB or more.
- Each preset also sets the new Kestramon options: Low = Fast animations, 48 blocks, free memory on. Medium = Balanced, 64 blocks, free memory on. High = Balanced, 96 blocks, shadows Near. Cinematic = Smooth, 128 blocks, shadows Near.
VOTING
- Less vote spam in chat. While you vote you get one short line above your hotbar per vote instead of chat lines. When you stop voting, one chat line tells you what you got (keys, coins, and the Storm key if you earned it). (already live since 5 October)
- The vote reminder every 30 minutes now only goes to players who still have sites left to vote on, in 2 short lines. If you voted everywhere, you get no reminder. (already live since 5 October)
- Vote timers show the real time for every site. minecraftservers.org, minecraft-server-list.com and minecraft-serverlist.com start a new day at midnight UTC, so you can often vote there again sooner than 24 hours. (already live since 5 October)
- TopG lets you vote every 12 hours, and a second TopG vote on the same day now pays too. (already live since 5 October)
- craftlist.org starts its day at your own midnight. The website waits the full 24 hours there to be safe. (already live since 5 October)
- The newest vote site (minecraft-serverlist.com) now shows its timer after you vote. (already live since 5 October)
- New Vote tab in the Kestramon menu (press H): every vote site with its own timer, a VOTE button that opens the site (with your name already filled in where the site allows it), how many sites you voted on today, and your Storm key progress. Each vote: 1 key + 150 coins. Offline votes are paid when you join.
- In the Vote tab, craftlist.org shows the time until your own midnight.
- If you changed the order of your menu tabs, it saves again (since 1 October a new tab could stop it saving).
LOOT
- A loot chest you put an item into becomes your chest: the weekly loot refill never touches it again. Chests where players already stored items before this update are protected too.
- Item frames with loot in structures refill every Sunday, on the same weekly clock as loot chests: the Elytra on End ships and the items in Repurposed Structures, Legendary Monuments and Cobblemon Extra Structures buildings, legendary items included. Only an empty frame refills, and frames you placed yourself are never touched.
POKÉMON LOOK AND THE STORE
- The doll Pokémon are fixed: Celebi, Jirachi, Gulpin, Pawmi, Vullaby and about 40 others show their real look again (restart your game once). That look comes from AllTheMons, by Lvnatic and many artists, who said yes to Kestramon using it. Thank you! (already live since 5 October)
- To follow AllTheMons' rules, nothing in the store gives a random Mystery Egg any more: bundles still give their keys, KestraGems, coins, items and a random cape, wings or pet, and crates no longer hold Mystery Eggs. (already live since 5 October)
- Pets of AllTheMons Pokémon (like Kyogre, Calyrex, Marshadow and Froslass) are no longer sold. Pets you already have stay yours. (already live since 5 October)
- Crates no longer hold those pets either; every other item in each crate became a tiny bit more likely. (already live since 5 October)
CREDITS
- New page kestramon.com/credits: every mod, Pokémon pack, shader and song we use, each with the people who made it. (already live since 5 October)
- New Credits channel on our Discord with the same list. (already live since 5 October)
- A Credits section in the Kestramon book.
ALLTHEMONS 4.0
- AllTheMons is updated to 4.0, the version made for Cobblemon 1.8.
- Hundreds of new animations for 187 Pokemon (from CobbleMotion by Lenka, now part of AllTheMons).
- Some Pokemon now use Cobblemon's own newer models instead of AllTheMons' old ones (like Alolan Sandshrew, Skitty, Audino and the Wurmple line). The old Alolan Sandshrew crash is gone for good.
- New: the Tympole line (Tympole, Palpitoad, Seismitoad) has its own look now, and Growlithe, Arcanine, Darumaka and Ursaluna have new spawns.
- Spawn chances were reworked across the board, so some Pokemon are a bit rarer or more common, and legendaries are a little rarer. Ting-Lu can now spawn in the wild. Every Pokemon that spawned before still spawns.
- Celesteela, Iron Boulder and Iron Jugulis still have no model in any pack, so they still show as a doll.
MOD UPDATES (every mod that had a newer version)
- Waystones 21.1.45 -> 21.1.46: bound scrolls no longer show "invalid", scrolls no longer cost XP when they should not, a missing error message when a scroll is blocked. (This is the update that makes everyone update.)
- Tree Harvester 9.1 -> 10.0: log houses next to grass or flowers are no longer chopped down; stone pillars (deepslate, basalt) are no longer seen as trees; no more server freeze on huge trees; the sneak-toggle cheat is gone; the right sapling is replanted (also on mud); leaves you placed near a tree are left alone; an axe now stops at 1 durability instead of breaking during a harvest.
- Open Parties and Claims 0.31.6 -> 0.32.7: fixes for a few claim command exploits; a new anchor-based claiming mode exists but stays off.
- Cobblemon Raid Dens 0.12.1 -> 0.13.0: raid bosses use much less memory; Metronome is no longer allowed in raids; Ghost-type Pokemon can no longer use Curse in raids; the dens bucket command is fixed.
- Cobblemon Pasture Loot 1.0.5 -> 1.2.0: fully works with Cobblemon 1.8.1 again; pasture drops come more often again (they had become rare after the Cobblemon update).
- Legendary Monuments 8.1 -> 8.2: works with Cobblemon 1.8.1; Kubfu can be found in the new Traditional Village dojo (beat Mustard first); new dojo paintings and scrolls; the TV and couch blocks no longer drop your FPS; Reshiram and Zekrom pedestals and Meltan candies fixed; Ecruteak Village is now called Pagoda Village. New buildings only appear in parts of the world nobody has explored yet.
- Cobbreeding 2.3.1 -> 2.4.0: adds a setting to hatch Alpha Pokemon from eggs. On Kestramon it stays off for now, so eggs hatch exactly as before.
- Kaleidoscope Cookery 1.5.1.1 -> 1.6.0.1: the 1.6.0 cooking update; a trash can in flowing water no longer turns it into a water source; kitchen knife damage and speed changed; fixes for milk, soup and recipes.
- Kaleidoscope World Liquor 1.1.11.2 -> 1.1.11.3: a startup crash fix.
- Entity Model Features 3.3.9 -> 3.3.11: faster first start with big animations; fixes for missing model parts and animated models in menus.
- Entity Texture Features 7.2.4 -> 7.2.5: less work per frame.
- More Cobblemon Tweaks 1.3.4 -> 1.3.5: the minimum-IV egg marker no longer shows on every egg.
- FTB Library 2101.1.36 -> 2101.1.37: only server admins can change mod settings of the server from inside the game.
- Fusion 1.3.15b -> 1.3.16: a connected-texture fix for items.
- Xaero's Minimap 26.5.0 -> 26.6.0 and Xaero's World Map 1.46.0 -> 1.47.0: newest versions.
- Collective 8.40 -> 8.42, Double Doors 7.2 -> 7.3, Puzzles Lib 21.1.60 -> 21.1.62, Cobblemon Tim Core 1.33.1 -> 1.33.2: library updates other mods need; no change you will notice.
NEXT UPDATE (held back tonight)
- Custom Nether Portals 3.0.0 needs a newer Fabric loader on the server; it comes with the next update. Portals work exactly as before.
- Cobblemon Economy 0.0.19 (the shop mod): our shop runs our own changed copy of 0.0.17, and those changes have to be redone on the new version first. The shop works exactly as before.
