Death Is Coming is the follow up to the mildly unsuccessful D.I.C Death Is Coming modpack. The original pack was intended to bring a cohesive modpack centered around Advent of Ascension to 1.12.2. This pack brings this vision to 1.16.5. It also aims to flesh out exploration in the overworld, nether and the end.
Death Is Coming is a curated modpack with the intention of being a hand-crafted experience rather than a filled to the brim kitchen sink. The list is rather long at 133 mods but most of those are libraries, quality of life mods and minor tweaks. The pack includes Advent of Ascension (obviously), a mod that has been around and evolved for many years. The mod adds over 20 new dimensions that you progress through while fighting harder and harder mobs and bosses as you go. The mod is massive, also adding skills to level and items to collect. For people new to the mod it can be a bit overwhelming but everything is well documented on the wiki and to get started with interdimensional travel I recommend starting on this page. The dimensiones are tiered and tier progression can be viewed here.
To spruce up vanilla dimensions a range of mods have been added. A collection of mods by Team Abnormals and Team Aurora breathes new life into the overworld. The Endergetic Expansion adds new biomes to the end while Infernal Expansion adds new biomes, mobs and structures to the Nether. The exciting new features from Minecraft 1.17 (and some from 1.18) have been added through the Caves & Cliffs Backport mod.
This is a tech-free modpack. Automation is mainly done through vanilla means, though there is no crazy endgame that'll require heaps of resources. There are multiple options for storage and travel, since I don't want to punish people for traveling and gathering loot. There's also a small touch of magic, mainly some newer mods that aren't too overpowered in comparison to AoA gear.
The pack also includes forge version of the popular Origins mod, allowing players to opt into a new playstyle. Some other things that are worth noting are the Diet mod, encouraging you to eat a varied diet to avoid deficits and gain benefits, YUNG's Better Portals that disables the creation of Vanilla Nether portals instead allowing you to find dimensional rifts deep underground and Majrusz's Progressive Difficulty which makes the game harder, but more rewarding as you progress through the game.
There are also many options for decorative blocks, you know, for all the builders out there.
