Recommended Settings
- Recommended vanilla render distance: 12–16 chunks
- Recommended simulation distance: 8–10 chunks
- Recommended Distant Horizons LOD distance: 128–256 chunks
- Default recommended FOV: 90
- Recommended memory allocation: 8 GB
- Recommended memory allocation with shaders or high LOD distances: 10 GB
Optional Optimization
Players with at least 16 GB of total system RAM can optionally try ZGC to reduce stutters while Distant Horizons generates LODs:
-XX:+UseZGC
Add it in:
CurseForge → Settings → Minecraft → Additional Arguments
Do not combine this argument with -XX:+UseG1GC.
Notes
- This is a primarily client-side modpack and should work on most vanilla or Fabric servers.
- Always follow the rules of the server you are joining.
- Shader performance, LOD distance, and memory usage depend on your PC hardware.
- Distant Horizons may temporarily affect performance while generating LOD data in unexplored areas.
