Mostly the fired wither skull go into the wall above while the wither's tail is hit. The wither cannot get out, but I can.

WiCaMa - Wither Cage Materials
Two building blocks for a safe place to fight the Wither and collect the Nether Star.
Blocks
- Wither Cage Block (opaque)
- Transparent Wither Cage Block (see-through, so you can watch what is inside the cage)
Features
- The Wither cannot destroy them: both blocks are in the
minecraft:wither_immunetag. - Explosion proof: blast resistance equal to bedrock. Wither skulls and explosions leave the blocks intact.
- Break at the speed of smooth stone with any tool that can mine obsidian (diamond tier or better, modded tools included), and drop themselves.
- Weaker tools are as slow as on obsidian and drop nothing.
Recipes
Both recipes give 4 blocks.
