VECTOR HUD

A cinematic, fully vector-drawn HUD: holographic terrain map, flight instruments, threat alerts, and ten switchable themes. Every element is geometry, not a texture.

What's new

Reported bugs — fixed

  • Altitude ladder showed no numbers when your Y was odd. The tick list was built from your own position, so the "every 8 metres" label test could never be true at odd altitudes. Ticks are now anchored to absolute Y. (thanks @rolahr)
  • Heading tape flickered in and out. Same defect, different instrument: the tape only drew when your bearing happened to land on a multiple of 5 degrees. Ticks are now anchored to absolute bearings, so the tape flows continuously. (thanks @rolahr)
  • Alerts kept showing when turned off. alertSound only ever silenced the sound. There is now a separate alertText for the warning text itself. (thanks @rolahr)

New — customisation

  • compass and altLadder can each be turned off on their own. (thanks @rolahr)
  • crosshair is no longer tied to the theme. Set it to any reticle name, dot, or none — keep a theme's colours without its crosshair. (thanks @rolahr)
  • hideVanillaCrosshair (default on) hides Minecraft's own crosshair while the HUD is drawing, since the HUD supplies its own reticle.
  • requiredItem gates the HUD on an item in your inventory — same syntax as requiredArmor, but you only need to carry it, not wear it. (thanks @jo4o6755)

New — hostile proximity alerts

The existing four-step alert ladder can now watch hostiles as well as terrain and ground. Steps at 12 / 24 / 36 m by default, all three thresholds in the config, and hostileAlert is off by default — the same policy this mod applies to radar and scanGlow. (thanks @lodest_game)

Warning text

  • The horizontal rules beside the headline are gone. They stretched the warning across most of the screen and pulled your eye outward.
  • Text is smaller and sits closer to the crosshair — less eye travel.
  • Scale now snaps to whole numbers. Minecraft's font is a bitmap; at fractional scales one source pixel lands on one screen pixel or two and the edges ripple. At integer scale it stays crisp.

Instruments

  • Turn-slip indicator under the heading tape, from the Mark VII instrument layout. It sits still when you do, and runs to the side you turn toward.
