What's new

1.1.4 — the holographic terrain table

Calmer to look at, steadier to fly with.

  • Fewer colours on the table. Blocks are grouped into material families — stone, dirt, wood, sand, foliage, metal — each painted in one colour taken from a real block in it. Materials you can tell apart drop from 43 to 29, while grass, sand, stone, dirt and oak keep the exact colour they had in 1.1.3. Distance haze eased from 30% to 22%.
  • The table no longer steps. Position and heading are carried forward every frame; the scan just refills them underneath. Turning at 180 deg/s the terrain moves 0.98 units per frame instead of 7.25, and your own marker stops moving relative to the disc entirely. An elytra dive at 30 m/s used to jump 6.09 units a frame and now moves 0.83 — all while scanning half as often.
  • You can see where you are standing. Your marker is drawn in a brighter ice than other players, 1.6x larger, with corner ticks at your feet, a drop line to the base plate, and range marks ahead at 8, 16, 24 and 32 m.
  • Slabs, stairs, trapdoors, carpets and paths sit at their real height. Each face carries the top and bottom of its block in eighths instead of being rounded to full or empty.
  • Torches, lanterns and lamps are drawn as light — a stem with a bead, sized only by the block's actual light level. No flicker, no pulse. The light budget is raised from 64 to 128.

Fixed

  • The table slid sideways while refreshing. The new reference point was published at the start of a scan but the old picture kept drawing until it finished. Both are now published together.
