SwemCull 1.21.1 (v1.0.2)
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
SwemCull v1.0.2
Horses behind walls are no longer drawn.
Until now, SwemCull only skipped horses outside your view. It now also skips horses completely hidden behind solid blocks, giving another large performance boost in stables and other enclosed areas.
In testing, a herd went from 74 FPS to around 1700 FPS as soon as a wall was between the player and the horses.
Only fully solid blocks count as walls, so fences, gates, trapdoors and glass won't hide horses.
EntityCulling doesn't solve this for SWEM. SWEM's horses opt out of Minecraft's normal culling, so they have never been hidden behind walls, even in modpacks that already include EntityCulling.
Rendering is a little faster across the board.
Some expensive rendering work is now cached instead of repeated every frame, reducing CPU usage even when every horse is visible.
SWEM Lite is now supported.
SwemCull now works with both SWEM and SWEM Lite, with no configuration required. It automatically detects which version you're using.
Fixed
- Fixed the game failing to launch when using SWEM Lite.
- Fixed a rare crash related to off-screen horse culling.
Licence
SwemCull is now licensed under LGPL-3.0 instead of MIT.
The mod is still free to use, redistribute, and include in modpacks. The main difference is that modified versions must also publish their source code under the same licence.
Versions 1.0.0 and 1.0.1 remain licensed under MIT.
