Description

The Problem

In vanilla Minecraft, mobs have a fixed detection radius. As soon as you cross that invisible boundary, they instantly know your location—regardless of whether you are standing in pitch-black darkness, behind a solid wall, or two floors above them. This mod fixes that issue by giving mobs actual vision and hearing.

Core Features

True Line of Sight: Mobs now have realistic vision. They cannot see you through walls, and their sight is significantly reduced in the dark.

Dynamic Hearing: We utilize the vanilla Warden's acoustic system in the background. Mobs will now register footsteps, broken blocks, or thrown items. They won't attack out of nowhere anymore; they have to actually notice you.

Alert System: If mobs hear a noise but can't see you, their internal alert level rises. They will get nervous, investigate the area, and look around for the source of the sound.

Stealth HUD: Crouching brings up a dynamic stealth indicator above your crosshair. An eye icon shows if you are hidden and how bright your current location is. Small audio waves next to it indicate how much noise you are currently making. The eye turns red when a mob spots you and initiates an attack.

Backstabs: Sneaking up perfectly behind an unaware mob allows you to perform a critical backstab for massive damage. Stabby stab stab.

Technical Details & Modpack Integration

No Bloat: This mod does one specific thing. It does not add any unnecessary new monsters, items, or world generation.

Night Vision Compatibility: Mobs are able to utilize the vanilla Night Vision effect to see you better in the dark. However, we deliberately left the spawn logic untouched—you will have to grant them the effect yourself if desired.

Attributes Added: We added two background attributes (stealth:camouflage and stealth:muffling). Modpack creators can use these to create custom items, armors, or enchantments that improve stealth gameplay.

Highly Configurable: A config file is included to adjust mob field of view, armor noise penalties, backstab damage, and more.

Modpacks: You are free to include this mod in any CurseForge modpacks.

Re-uploading: Please do not re-upload the mod file to other websites. Just link back to this CurseForge page.

If you want to experience the mobs' vision and hearing, why not try Stealth: Manhunt—this mod applies the vision and hearing mechanics from Stealthmath to the player. (Actually, it started out as my debug mod ^^)

Stealth Manhunt creates a hardcore hide-and-seek experience in Minecraft by replacing the standard client-side radar with server-controlled echo particles. These xray-like echo particles display through walls based on sound vibrations created by entities.
