Soulsteal Potions

Steal life in combat with the Wraith effect, or unleash decay with Wither potions. Soulsteal is a deeply configurable vampiric combat mod.

Soulsteal Potions

Steal life. Spread decay. Turn combat into a vampiric power fantasy.

Soulsteal Potions adds two brand-new potions to Minecraft: Soulsteal which gives you the powers of Wraith, a life-steal effect that lets you drain health from anything you damage, and Decay which gives your target the Wither effect. Brew them, throw them, or tip your arrows with them โ€” every hit becomes a chance to turn the fight in your favor.

Built for Fabric, fully data-driven, and configurable down to the smallest detail, from heal percentages to heart colors. Soulsteal Potions is designed to slot into any modpack or survival world without stepping on other mods' toes.

โœจ Features

๐Ÿฉธ Wraith โ€” Life-Steal Combat

Wraith is a new status effect that allows you to steal the health of other players and mobs with your attacks after you drink the new Soulsteal Potion

  • Deal damage while your Wraith is active and you will heal a percentage of it back โ€” melee, arrows, and damage-over-time (DOT) effects all count.
  • Heals more health for Wither-type damage specifically, rewarding you for stacking effects together.
  • Killing blows will heal you too (optional, but you can toggle it off.) No more "the kill just doesn't count" combat exploits.
  • Grants bonus temporary hearts while active. They start empty and fill in naturally through normal healing, or even life-steal healing, then vanish the moment the effect ends. Wraith II grants even more hearts.
  • Soul-particles rise out of any entity that currently has Wraith, with a visible drain effect flowing from the victim to the attacker on every hit.

โ˜ ๏ธ Wither

It's the classic Wither effect, but in potion form. It's the highly rumored Potion of Decay that you've always wanted.

  • The effect is vanilla, but with its own potion color, name, and visual identity that you can customize.
  • Plays nicely with Wraith's healing mechanics for combat synergy.

๐ŸŽจ Deep Visual Customization

  • Recolor the Wither and Wraith potions and heart icons to anything you like via an in-game color picker or a hand-editable config file.
  • Define your own named color presets, shareable across worlds and packs.
  • Rename the potions โ€” choose between "Decay/Soulsteal" or "Wither/Wraith", whichever fits your needs.

โš™๏ธ Built to Be Configured

Every number that matters is exposed through a clean YACL-powered settings screen (Mod Menu compatible):

  • Heal percentages for regular damage vs. Wither-sourced damage, with adjustable random variance
  • Bonus heart count (0โ€“10)
  • Toggle killing-blow healing on or off โ€” great for balancing mob farms
  • Toggle Wraith's glow-on-drain visual effect
  • Choose whether Wraith's damage-over-time (DOT) tracking clears immediately when the effect ends

Reload any config file from inside the game โ€” no restart required โ€” using a Mod Menu config screen, or edit the config files manually and use the /soulsteal_potions reload command to make your changes live, which works even in worlds with cheats disabled.

๐Ÿ”— Cross-Mod Compatibility, Two Ways

Soulsteal Potions' life-steal mechanic can be configured to recognize damage-over-time (DOT) effects from other mods, so Wraith drains properly against them too:

  • Mod developers can register compatibility directly with a few simple lines of code โ€” no hard dependency required.
  • Players and modpack authors can add compatibility themselves through a simple, human-editable config file, even if the other mod's author hasn't added support โ€” with sensible fallbacks so a mistyped entry never breaks your world, and a mod's own built-in support always takes priority over a manual config entry.

๐Ÿงช What's in the Box

  • 2 new potions (Decay/Wither, Soulsteal/Wraith, and their Splash/Lingering variants)
  • Plus matching tipped arrows
  • Fully data-driven potion registration โ€” compatible with resource packs and datapacks
  • Three separate, reloadable config files: main settings, custom color presets, and cross-mod compatibility
  • Warning logs for every config file, so a typo never fails silently

๐Ÿ“‹ Requirements

  • Fabric Loader
  • Fabric API

Optional but recommended for in-game config screens:

  • YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL)
  • Mod Menu

Have a suggestion, found a bug, or want to add compatibility for your own mod? Feedback is always welcome.

I'm just starting to make Minecraft mods that I find helpful in my worlds. Thought I would share them for people who also find them useful.
