🔮 Soulbound Summoner
A summoner illager that conjures waves of mobs, and orbs that capture a spirit and call it back as your ally. A NeoForge 1.21.1 port of The Summoner.
✨ Overview
🔮 Summoner Orbs
Capture
Kill a mob with an empty orb in your inventory and its spirit may be captured — the lower its maximum health, the better the chance. In creative mode you can also right-click any mob with an empty orb to capture it directly. Summoned allies always return to the orb of their summoner when they die or their time runs out.
Release
Right-click a block with a filled orb to summon the captured mob next to it, named after you. The ally follows you and attacks whatever hurts you or whatever you attack. Sneak + right-click an ally to make it stay put or follow again. Summoned mobs never drop loot or experience.
Two orbs
- Summoner Orb — the ally stays for about 100 seconds. Each summon wears the orb down by 8; repair it with an ender pearl.
- Enhanced Summoner Orb — no time limit for the ally and each summon only costs 2 durability. Its tooltip says so and it glows.
The orb takes the colour of the captured mob, and a crafting recipe empties it again without losing its durability. Orbs are not craftable: they drop from the Summoner Illager and are available in the creative tab.
💀 The Summoner Illager
A hostile illager that fights by summoning. It conjures groups of mobs picked at random (armoured zombies, resistant skeletons, blazes, a flock of chickens, a golden zombified piglin), and a boss version that goes through five waves with a growing roster, from armoured zombies to an evoker, an iron golem and a vindicator. It drops a Summoner Orb; the boss drops an Enhanced one.
Draft note: the illager and its spawning are still being ported.

⚙️ Configuration and customisation
A common config file lets you blacklist mobs that orbs can not capture (for example minecraft:creeper). The summon groups are plain JSON files in the mod's data (data/soulbound_summoner/summon_groups/), so a datapack can replace or add groups.

- Original mod: The Summoner. This port is unofficial.
- Not ported: the in-game "edit mode" for recording your own groups (replaced by datapack overrides), riding your summons, the summon overlay option and the Just Enough Resources integration.
- Beta: expect rough edges. The mod builds and the dedicated server starts cleanly, but it has not been played in-game yet.
