What is it?
You ever try building something underwater? Rough, right? The constant drowning, the slowness of breaking blocks, the lack of movement and the expensiveness of Vanilla ways to deal with it. Now there's an easy, standalone way to deal with working underwater. Simple Diving Gear!
What does it do?
It adds a TWO suit of diving gear, with one optional upgrade each, and that's it!
As of 1.16.1, it now includes a lava version of the suit! Just replace Obsidian Blocks in the recipe, with Netherite Ingots
When wearing the suits outside of their respective liquids, you'll be slowed and have a hard time mining, as it's quite cumbersome. But when in them, it's a completely different story. You get the ability to swim in place, quickly and reliably. You can break blocks at a more normal speed, and of course you can breathe underwater.

How does it work?
It applys potion effects and enchantments while in the water, and removes them when you leave it.

Lava version of the armor should hopefully be working. Is crafted using Netherite Ingots in place of Obsidian Blocks.

No, I have no interest in using my free time to play around with Fabric.
You're more than welcome to port it to Fabric yourself; I'll even host it on this page for everyone, if you want.

If you'd like. I have a Patreon. There's also a donate button right here on this page.
Is this mod compatible with the 1.16.4 version? I love this mod!
Does the server admin have to install the mods on the server in order for them to work? I have this installed, but I can't craft the items. I know some mods don't require server approval/install.
In reply to dandible:
Any mod that adds in items or mobs needs to be installed server-side. Basically the only mods which work without the server having them are HUD mods, and even then server owners might consider them cheating.
Why make a mod that is for diving and then create a recipe that has to be unlocked for? It is diving why turn it into nonsense? I am an adult maybe it is just me idk. I find it dumb making it this way and we are finding another diving mod instead. Make a new mod that only does diving and we will use it in the pack.. good luck
In reply to CosmicFox42:
I'm not quite sure what you mean by unlocking the recipe; I'm guessing you mean something to do with the recipe book? You can always just craft the suits the normal way using the recipe on this page or in JEI, in the crafting table with or without the recipe in the recipe book entry. Also not sure what you mean by "make a new mod that does only diving" when that's quite literally all this mod does already.
I'm playing in survival mode with no cheats, how do I naturally unlock the recipe?
Thanks!

I'm not entirely sure how that works, I'll have to get back to you. Maybe something to do with glass or glass panes, as the "diving core" is made with glass panes in a furnace shape. But you can always just craft the suits the normal way in the crafting table with or without the recipe in the recipe book.
In reply to Rohzek:
thank you! I think that explains what I need
Someone else asked but will this be updated to 1.16.2 and up?
Can you make it visible-source?
Does the 1.16.1 version work on 1.16.2? (or can the meta-inf be edited)
When i use the latest version
As long as I open the shader
it will be broken
Hey, I love your mod! The only problem I am having, besides the already mentioned game crash when /gamemode is used (I will also look for the crashlog) is the fact that I cannot craft the dive helmet. I assume the middle square is a glass cube, but it won't craft for me. Any way you could add the recipe to the game so that it will recognize it better? Thanks!
In reply to geyegeroffe:
JEI shows recipes in game; due to an incompatibility with another mod's recipe, it's been changed to a "helmet core" which is created with 8 glass panes.
This mod is great!
I found one very annoying bug in 1.16.1, I don't know if this is due to your mod or Forge - switching gamemodes via /gamemode survival or /gamemode creative causes Minecraft to freeze and close completely.
In reply to Forge_User_86740336:
Next time it happens, you can go to
Or click "view crash log" on the launcher afterwards and copy the contents to a sharing site like pastebin.com. Send me the link to that, and I'll be more then happy to check it out for you.
If there is no crash log being generated when it happens, you can also look in
for a file called latest.log (or even better, debug.log if it's being generated) and that might work as well.
In reply to Rohzek:
Alright, I'll do that next time - haven't had any crashes so far today, since I've disbaled my resourcepacks, so that may have been the issue.
Some bugs I've found:
1. Even after the tank is empty, you can still breath underwater (you have to keep wearing the tank). However, I do prefer this as otherwise it's just outclassed by water breathing potions. If you really want to keep the air limit, at least add some armor values to the suit.
2. When you're in non-source blocks, you can't swim up. This is easiest to observe at the bottom of a waterfall, and makes it easy to get stuck when working at the bottom of the ocean.
What is the crafting recipe for the Diving Helmet Core?
