100 Downloads!
Thank you so much for using, sharing, and enjoying my mod. I'm honored and so happy to share something for everybody to enjoy! :)

Minecraft 26.2

SampCoasters now runs on Minecraft 26.2 alongside 26.1.2. Both downloads have the same features, so pick the one for your Minecraft version.

This is the 26.2 version. If you're looking for the 26.1.2 version, please go back to the Files section. :)

26.2 requirements: Fabric API 0.161.0 or newer, and the 26.2 build of Create Fly.

Advancements

SampCoasters now has its own advancements: 46 of them across two tabs, with secret ones to find c: They're also animated to look cute.

You get them by building, riding and experiencing everything in the mod. The rest are yours to find, so I won't spoil them here!

For server owners and data packs: you can add your own advancements with the sampcoasters:event trigger, and change any threshold in the advancement files.

New coaster sounds

Every cart now has its own layered ride sound that follows it along the track and changes with its speed. They replace the old vanilla sounds, which didn't sound the best most of the time. All coaster sounds play under the Blocks volume slider.

Rolling

Three recorded loops blend into each other as the cart speeds up:

Layer Fades in Fades out
Slow As soon as the cart moves ~7–11 blocks/second
Mid ~6–10 blocks/second ~15–20 blocks/second
Fast ~14–19 blocks/second Stays for anything faster
  • Each cart picks its own recordings per layer, so linked carts in a longer train all sound a little different.

Chain lift

  • A clanking chain loop plays while a cart climbs, then fades out at the top.
  • The rolling sound quiets down while the chain is pulling.

Wind

  • A wind rush with natural gusts plays while you ride.
  • It starts above ~3 blocks/second and hits full volume at ~25 blocks/second, getting higher pitched as you speed up.
  • Replaces the old elytra sound.

Brakes

  • Entering a brake plays a burst of clacks with an air hiss.
  • The hiss repeats about every 1.8 seconds while the cart is still slowing, so long stretches of brakes aren't as annoying to listen to.
  • Replaces the old grindstone sound.

Splash drive

  • New splash sounds play about every 1.2 seconds through the water, with a slightly random pitch so they don't sound repetitive.
  • Above 60% splash size, it switches to bigger, heavier splashes.

General

  • Every sound has a subtitle, so those who are hard of hearing can still tell what's going on.
  • Ride sounds carry about 42 blocks (fast rolling about 48), so people nearby can hear your coasters too. It's quieter for them, and still full volume for riders.
  • Sounds only play for carts within hearing range (starting within 56 blocks, stopping past 64), so big parks with lots of carts don't use up the game's sound channels.
  • Fixed sounds not playing from the right spot, which made them hard to hear or not show subtitles at all.

Config file

You can now tune the mod in config/sampcoasters.properties. You shouldn't need to think about this if you're just using the mod normally.

Note: restart the game or server after editing it.

Setting Default Range What it does
effectorBoostAcceleration 16 0–400 Booster push at full strength (blocks/second²)
effectorMaxSpeed 40 0–200 Top speed a booster drives a cart to (blocks/second)
effectorBrakeDeceleration 24 0–400 Brake strength at full strength (blocks/second²)
maxTrackConnectionSpanBlocks 45 1–128 Longest distance between two anchorpoints when placing track
maxChainLiftSpanBlocks 128 1–384 Longest chain lift along the track
maxBalloonPayloadMass 128 0–512 How much weight a balloon can help hold up
universalDragCompensationFraction 1.0 0–1 How much air drag is cancelled for carts on track
  • On servers, the server's track-span and chain-lift limits get sent to each player, so your placement previews match what the server allows. Your own settings come back when you leave.
  • If a crash ever occurs due to the mod, deleting this file and letting it regenerate should fix it.

Track modifiers

  • Holding any modifier item now highlights every placed modifier section near you, each in its own color.
  • Fixed a timing bug that caused problems with modifiers.
  • Long sections now work even when the anchorpoint they start from is far away & on a different axis.
  • Highlights and the placement preview now show underwater too, with or without shaders.
  • Multiple modifiers now stack properly instead of sometimes overwriting each other.

Fixes

Survival

  • Breaking a cart in survival now drops everything built on it instead of deleting it:
    • Blocks drop properly and keep their items, so you can now transport items (yayy!).
    • Chests and barrels on the cart spill their contents.
    • Shulker boxes keep their contents inside.
    • Carts added onto an existing build no longer drop an extra cart.
  • Breaking an anchorpoint in survival now gives back the modifiers placed on it.

Servers & multiplayer

  • Fixed a dupe where sitting in a seat and spamming right-click with any block in your hand could duplicate that block.
  • These actions now check on the server that the player is allowed to build there (spawn protection, adventure mode, etc.).
  • Modified clients can no longer make the server load far-away chunks permanently, which could cause low TPS and eventually a crash.
  • Track and modifier editing now respects spawn protection too.
  • Fixed carts sometimes snapping to invisible track left over from another world after switching worlds or servers in the same session. The mod now clears that cache, which also saves RAM and keeps your game from overworking itself.

Stability & performance

  • Fixed worlds with very large coasters getting stuck forever on the loading screen when rejoining. Anchorpoints and rivets now finish setting up just after their chunk loads, and the track cleanup no longer reaches into chunks that are still loading, which was causing crashes.
  • Fixed a crash with Lithium and shaders under certain conditions on launch and world creation.
  • Fixed a possible physics crash when part of a build ends up holding only weightless blocks. Those parts are now cleaned up safely.
  • Fixed a small memory build-up from every cart you'd seen during a long play session.
  • Fixed the creative tab banners covering items at some GUI scales.
  • Fixed a possible dedicated server crash, where the new version support code could try to load client-only parts of the game.
