Repair Pair
Compare which carried duplicate tool to use for a crafting-grid repair, without consuming anything.
Hold exactly one damaged vanilla item in your main hand and use /repairpair scan. Use /repairpair scan 2 (up to page 5) to see more candidates; /repairpair help explains the report. Donors come only from your own 36 normal inventory slots, excluding the held slot. Slots 1–9 are the hotbar. Armor, offhand, containers and nested inventories are not searched.
The report ranks donors by the resulting remaining durability and reports the active recipe ID, result durability, and a warning when the output differs in non-damage data from either input. This catches names, enchantments and component differences, but is a broad warning rather than a full component-by-component explanation. Crafting repair can remove ordinary enchantments while retaining curses. Read the warning before actually crafting.
Results come from the running world's selected crafting recipe, using copied stacks. Repair Pair accepts only the exact vanilla RepairItemRecipe class and vanilla item IDs, and skips other recipe implementations. It does not predict anvil costs, smithing, grindstone output or arbitrary modded crafting behavior. The existing-durability overflow figure is the amount of the two inputs' remaining durability above the result's maximum, excluding the recipe's repair bonus. It is not the total bonus-inclusive waste.
No items are moved, consumed or created by the command. Scans are on demand, limited to 36 slots, paginated to eight results, with a five-second cooldown. There is no background inventory polling or other-player inspection. Recipe changes or inventory edits after a scan can change future crafting results.

Provenance and license
Original Repair Pair recipe comparison and ranking logic; MIT, Copyright 2026 RickCode. Loader/Gradle setup and command-registration patterns are reused from Smelter Triage, also MIT and by RickCode. Smelter Triage diagnoses furnace blocks; Repair Pair compares inventory donors using crafting repair recipes and does not include furnace scanning. Smelter Triage is not a dependency. The license notice is included in every release file.
New beta release; bugs may remain. Exact release JARs passed dedicated-server startup and separate recipe/command/inventory-immutability QA on both listed versions (69 checks on 1.21.1, 68 on 26.3). The pure ranking/overflow suite passed 370,001 assertions on Java 21 and 25. Graphical client testing has not been performed.
