Transfer wolves, cats and parrots between players with explicit recipient consent and no extra items.

Pet Handover lets players give their own vanilla wolves, cats and parrots to another nearby player through an explicit consent exchange.

MINECRAFT AND INSTALLATION Minecraft Java 1.21.1 with Fabric. Install Pet Handover and Fabric API on the Fabric server; clients do not need this mod. The tested combination is Fabric Loader 0.16.9, Fabric API 0.110.0+1.21.1 and Java 21. Other Minecraft versions and other pet-ownership mods are not claimed compatible.

HOW TO TRANSFER A PET

Run /pethandover offer PlayerName.
Right-click your wolf, cat or parrot with an empty main hand.
The named recipient chooses Accept or Decline in chat, or runs the command supplied in the offer.

Both players must be within eight blocks of the pet. Selection and acceptance each expire after 60 seconds. Use /pethandover cancel to cancel an outstanding exchange. Ownership changes only after the named recipient accepts a current offer and the server rechecks ownership, pet identity, participant status and distance. The same pet remains in the world.

VERSION 0.1.1 This initial stable release fixes disconnect cancellation feedback being sent to a departing connection. Only the remaining participant receives cancellation feedback. Eight unit tests and nine real Minecraft server GameTests passed. Actual Fabric-client checks covered all three supported pets and adversarial consent flows, and a separate server-process restart preserved the checked pet identity/ownership/state. Two unmodified vanilla clients separately passed connection checks.

This is a supported tested baseline, not a universal compatibility guarantee. Complete transfers with unmodified vanilla clients, human audible narration, keyboard-only chat acceptance and other pet-mod combinations are not established by the recorded tests. No automatic pet transfers or client-side test controls are included in the release.

LICENSE AND PROVENANCE MIT license. Development, fixes, tests and documentation used substantial OpenAI Codex assistance. There is no runtime AI or telemetry, and no Minecraft binaries/assets or test harness are bundled. Primarily AI-generated content is currently ineligible for public Modrinth publication. No revenue, rewards eligibility or platform approval is promised.
