Parliament Post
Beta candidate for Minecraft 1.21.1 Fabric. The Gradle build and all 13 automated tests passed against the packaged JAR. Live gameplay, rendering, and multiplayer acceptance are still pending. Use a backed-up test world while these checks remain incomplete.
Take a courier on your next mining trip. Parliament Post adds tameable Courier Owls, named Owl Roost Posts, and Wax-Sealed Parcels for sending supplies home or mailing items to online friends.
Pack up to nine stacks, choose a destination, add an optional memo of up to 40 characters, and hand the parcel to your owl. Roost deliveries unpack into an 18-slot mail buffer that supports hopper extraction. Player deliveries arrive as intact parcels.
Features
- Original animated owl model and artwork, with taming, following, and sitting behavior.
- Find owls in forest and taiga biomes, or attract one to an open-sky roost with two treats at night.
- Nine-slot parcels with destination selection, short memos, and nesting prevention.
- Named roost addresses with hopper extraction for your storage system.
- Persistent virtual flights and intact parcel returns for full or unavailable destinations.
- Falconer's Reed Whistle for binding, recall, and delivery status.
- Peaceful companions with no combat attacks.
Requirements
Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.1, Java 21, Fabric Loader 0.16.14, and Fabric API 0.116.6+1.21.1. Install Parliament Post and Fabric API on both client and server.
Getting started
- Craft and name an Owl Roost Post.
- At night, place two rabbit, cooked rabbit, cod, or sweet berries in its treat slot under open sky.
- Tame an owl with food, then use an empty hand to switch between sitting and following.
- Craft a parcel, pack your items, choose a destination, and save your optional memo. The recipe makes two empty parcels; split a combined output before packing.
- Use the packed parcel on your owl, or press Dispatch with an owned owl within eight blocks.
- Collect deliveries from the roost buffer or a hopper below it.
Delivery behavior and current limitations
Virtual flights model delivery without requiring an owl to physically navigate every intervening chunk. Full or missing destinations return the intact parcel; offline owners or full sender inventories can delay its return.
Carrying a bound whistle keeps its recorded owl location current. Recall can resolve one recorded chunk in the same dimension. Stale locations may require visiting and rebinding the owl. Roost inventories are public; only the placer can rename a roost.
Shoulder perching and storing an owl inside a whistle are outside this version's scope. Normal saved-world persistence does not guarantee recovery from arbitrary power loss. Separate-process restarts, delivery to an actually unloaded destination, live rendering, and production multiplayer networking remain unverified; the restart automation currently verifies NBT serialization and reload.
