Welcome to Owl's Pocket Dimension, a dimension mod focused on creating a survival-friendly, personal oasis away from the chaotic overworld to build in a peaceful, mob-free environment. Claim your own starter island block and use resources to expand your space in any direction, building whatever you can imagine!
Travel to the Pocket Dimension from anywhere, even from the Nether or End (or modded dimensions)! Survival friendly, balanced gameplay without resource exploitation or game-breaking progression changes, this dimension is solely intended for base building and player creativity and offers no additional resources to the player except grass, dirt, and stone.
While in the Pocket Dimension, you can be without fear as you build and grow; no hostile mobs, no fall damage, no getting stuck in the void. Fall damage is automatically canceled, and any player who falls into the void will be teleported back to their Pocket Dimension spawn point.
Build with friends! Anyone entering the Pocket Dimension will be given their own starter island block on which to build and expand. Build a bridge to your friend's base or build together on a shared project, it's up to you!
Craft and place the Pocket Platform to create a convenient, single-block portal, then right click or stand on the portal to access the Pocket Dimension from anywhere you like, even other dimensions (modded dimensions included)! Use the Dimensional Suitcase to access the Pocket Dimension on the go from anywhere you like with a single right-click in the air. Use the player wand to change your Pocket Dimension spawn coordinates, and use the Mob Teleportation Wand to send mobs back and forth between the Pocket Dimension as you please!
Upon first arrival in the dimension, players are assigned unique spawn coordinates and given their own 25x25x25 block starter island at those coordinates from which they can build and expand. They can change those spawn coordinates at any time by crafting and using the Player Wand.
Players can expand their island by putting 64 stone or deepslate blocks (or 64 of any appropriately tagged item) into the GUI of any of the five Pocket Expansion Blocks on the north, south, east, west, and bottom of their starter island to generate another 25-block section of land in that direction. All subsequent expansions will also have the corresponding Pocket Expansion Blocks to allow for perpetual expansion in any direction the player chooses.
I also have an addon called Owl's Pocket Curios which adds compatibility with the Curios API, giving the player an item which allows them to teleport to and from the Pocket Dimension with a dedicated keybind, anytime, anywhere. Currently this addon is only available for Forge 1.20.1.
Future plans:
Priority #1: identify and fix the cause of the rare "can't leave the dimension" issue
Fix Tough As Nails issue that treats the Pocket Dimension as the Nether (might be fixed already, need to check)
Update Pocket Portal and Pocket Expansion Block models and textures to be compatible with resource packs
Adding an nbt system for the Mob Teleportation wand to allow players to choose destination and respawn coordinates for mobs
Changing the void protection system to be based on an effect rather than automatic
Updating Suffocation Prevention effect to work better in other dimensions
Adding configuration (enable/disable void protection, fall damage protection, mob transporation, etc.)
Possibly adding a configuration for how many and what is used for the expansion payment items
Possibly adding a configuration for adjusting the range of the pocket expansion
Possibly adding "bedrock" back into the creative menu
Possibly adding configuration for what block replaces an unused Pocket Expansion Block
Continuing to update/port to NeoForge 1.21.1+
Known issues:
When moving between dimensions, a phantom version of the portal block will occasionally appear at the corresponding coordinates in the opposite dimension. From my testing, this is an entirely client-side issue and does not affect gameplay; simply right-click the phantom block or restart the client to fix the problem. I cannot even reproduce the issue consistently (90% of the time it works without issue), so it appears to be an internal logic issue with Minecraft, not the mod. But if anyone has insight, they are welcome to let me know.
On rare occasions, the player will teleport to 0,0 in the Overworld instead of their last coordinates when leaving the Pocket Dimension. This is a known issue, but as of the latest update, very rare. It is guaranteed to occur if the player first enters the Pocket Dimension using a method other than the Pocket Portal or Suitcase (such as the Waystones mod), and then leaves using the Pocket Portal or Suitcase. This is intentional behavior to prevent crashes. It should not happen on subsequent visits using any method whatsoever except in very rare instances. In these instances, it is a client/server desync and appears to be beyond my control. Again if anyone has insight, they are welcome to let me know.
In versions before the v2.2 update, if you rename your world and not the folder, the mod will put its data into a folder named after the worldname rather than the folder, meaning the data for this mod and the world will be in two different places. This will not affect gameplay I don't think, but it will affect trying to navigate your files. This was fixed in v2.2 and is no longer an issue
Using the Dimensional Suitcase to access the Pocket Dimension was disabled in version 2.0 due to reported error--it has been since fixed in v2.1 and above.
Troubleshooting errors:
If you find yourself stuck in the Pocket Dimension for any reason and cannot get out, check your worldsave folder under data/owls_pocket_dimension and data/owls_pocket_dimension/player_data. The files there are open to the player to modify (any text editor should work) for debug purposes. If it doesn't feel self-explanatory, check the comment section or send me a direct message (hopefully I'll have a Discord up in the near future to help with all this). If all else fails, use this command:
/execute in overworld run teleport @s 0 70 0 (or whatever coordinates you'd rather)
If you don't have cheats enabled, open an LAN world via the pause menu and enable cheats (if you are on a singleplayer world).
You might try deleting the mod and its worldsave data and re-installing the mod (it won't delete any chunks in the dimension if you don't touch the dimensions folder within the worldsave folder)
If none of that works, I apologize, but I'll keep an eye out for fixing it if I can.
Note:
1.20.1 is the current supported version. Updates for NeoForge 1.21.1 are in progress, but 1.19.2 will only receive critical bugfixes, do not expect content updates.
You may notice that in the latest versions, lightning cannot be spawned in the pocket dimension. This is intentional behavior to avoid damage to builds or the player while players are AFK. I will see if I can work out a way of specifically disabling natural lightning rather than all lightning to enable more player freedom in creative mode. Skeleton horses are likewise disabled in some versions before v2.2 to avoid player deaths from Skeleton Traps; this has been fixed as of v2.2, and now only Skeleton Traps are disabled in the Pocket Dimension--skeleton horses should spawn without triggering a trap.
You are welcome to include this mod in any modpack, if you provide credit and a link to this page (Curseforge modpacks should do that automatically)
