Description
Loot Beams Indicator
Never miss good loot again. Every item on the ground gets a glowing aura, a light beam and a floating name, all coloured and scaled by its rarity. Common drops stay subtle. Epic loot lights up the night.
Client-side only, for NeoForge 1.21.1. Servers don't need it installed.
Features
Rarity detection
- Reads the item's own rarity, the same value Minecraft uses to colour item names (Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic). Enchanted items are raised to a higher rarity, as in vanilla.
- Modded items that set a rarity are detected automatically.
- Modded rarities above Epic (e.g. "Mythic", "Legendary") get the top Legendary tier, in their own colour and with their own name.
- Items with a coloured name use that colour for their aura (can be turned off).
Glowing loot aura
Glowing particles spiral around each item. They shine in the dark, twinkle, and fade from the rarity colour towards white. Every tier adds something more:
| Rarity | Effects |
|---|---|
| Common | Faint 1-arm spiral |
| Uncommon | 1-arm spiral, short beam, electric sparks |
| Rare | 2-arm spiral, glowing ground ring, beam, glow and enchanting-glyph particles |
| Epic | 2-arm spiral, bigger ring, tall beam wrapped in a double helix, occasional ring of sparkles |
| Legendary (modded rarities) | 3-arm spiral, tallest beam with helix and a rotating crown on top, totem particles |
Light beams
- A soft beam of light with a bright white core that fades as it rises, plus a glowing halo on the ground.
- Height grows with rarity: 2 blocks for Uncommon, up to 5.2 blocks for Legendary (default settings).
- Visible from 48 blocks away, and still drawn when the item itself is off screen.
Floating name labels
- Item name and rarity float above the item, in its colour, like a nametag without the dark box.
- Stacks show their size (e.g.
Bottle o' Enchanting x32). - Labels fade out with distance (12 blocks by default).
Enchantment particles
Enchanted items and enchanted books give off particles themed after their enchantments:
| Enchantment | Particle | Enchantment | Particle |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fire Aspect, Flame | Flames | Frost Walker | Snowflakes |
| Sharpness, Power, Piercing, Projectile Protection | Critical hits | Smite | Soul fire |
| Loyalty | Hearts | Silk Touch | Cherry petals |
| Looting, Fortune | Green sparkles | Luck of the Sea | Glow |
| Efficiency, Channeling, Quick Charge | Electric sparks | Mending | Green specks |
| Thorns | Damage hearts | Unbreaking / Protection | Wax shimmer |
| Respiration / Aqua Affinity / Depth Strider | Bubbles / drips / nautilus | Lure / Riptide | Splashes / falling water |
| Knockback, Punch, Wind Burst | Small gusts | Infinity | End rod |
| Curse of Binding / Vanishing | Ink / reverse portal | Other vanilla ones | Their own themed particle |
Modded enchantments get a consistent particle from a glowing palette. Modded curses give off smoke.

Compatibility
- Client-only: works on vanilla servers, modded servers and singleplayer.
- Sodium and Iris: tested with Sodium 0.6.13, Iris 1.8.12 and Complementary Reimagined; the screenshots were taken with it. Shaderpacks with their own volumetric clouds may draw those clouds over the beams.
- Languages: English and Spanish.
FAQ
Do I need it on the server? No. Install it only on your client.
Does it work with items from other mods? Yes, as long as the mod sets a rarity on the item. Items that only colour their name still get that colour on their aura, but count as Common.
Too many particles? Lower Particle density, or turn off Accent particles, Spark rings or Enchantment particles.
