Description
Crimson Gorecraft
Gore for NeoForge 26.3: every hit sprays blood, the blood stains floors, walls and ceilings, and killing blows tear mobs apart into their own limbs.
Installation
Install the mod on the server and on every client. The server only reports each hit (how much damage, from which direction, whether it killed). Each player's client decides how much of it to show, using its own configuration, so one player can turn the gore down without changing it for anyone else.
Blood on hit
A spray of drops leaves the side of the body that was hit, flying away from the attacker. Stronger hits throw more and farther: about 2 drops plus 2.5 per point of damage (counted up to 20), times the bloodAmount setting, plus a fine mist that does not stain. Hits with no direction, such as falls, spray upwards.
A killing blow adds a fountain of 10 drops plus one per point of the victim's max health (up to 40), and a pool that spreads under the body for 4 seconds.
Drops that land in water or lava are lost without staining. Damage that does not open wounds draws no blood: fire, lava, drowning, freezing, lightning, starvation, magic and poison, wither, suffocating in a block, and the void.
Blood colors
| Blood | Mobs |
|---|---|
| Red | Every mob not listed below, including mobs from other mods |
| Dark red | Undead (#minecraft:undead) |
| Green | Slimes, sulfur cubes, creepers and arthropods (spiders, bees, silverfish) |
| Orange | Magma cubes, striders, creakings |
| Purple | Endermen, endermites, shulkers, the Ender Dragon |
| Bone chips (no stains) | Skeletons of every kind and the Wither |
| None | Iron, snow and copper golems, blazes, breezes, vexes, allays |
Armor stands and mannequins never bleed.
Stains
Every drop that hits a block leaves a splatter on that face, on floors, walls and ceilings alike, turned at a random angle. Stains darken as they dry, and in the last quarter of their life they fade out until they are gone. They last 15 seconds by default. A stain disappears at once if the block under it is removed, and when there are more than maxStains the oldest ones go first.
Dismemberment
When a mob dies in view, its model breaks into its own top-level parts: head, body, arms, legs, tail, with the mob's texture. The pieces fly away from the hit, spin, bounce, bleed on the way and splat where they land. After 10 seconds they sink into the ground while fading out.
Explosions, mace smashes, falling anvils and the Warden's sonic boom always tear the body apart, and so does any hit worth half of the victim's max health or more. Other deaths do it 60% of the time.
Because the pieces come from the mob's own model, mobs from other mods that use Minecraft's standard renderer are handled the same way, with no per-mod support.
Datapack tags
Modpacks can change who bleeds what without code:
