This mod provides users with a NEI-like light overlay.
This mod requires Rift, Forge or Fabric. (Fabric API, Cloth Config (Fabric) and Architectury are required for Fabric, Cloth Config (Forge) and Architectury are required for Forge)
Light Overlay is a client ONLY mod, putting this on a server will do nothing.
Press F7 to toggle the light overlay, configurable through Controls Settings.
A yellow cross means that mobs can spawn at night, a red cross means that mobs can spawn anytime.
A blue cross means that mobs can spawn if there is a spawner (1.18 only)

Known Issue:
This mod does not work well with OptiFine shaders: https://github.com/shedaniel/LightOverlay-Fabric/issues/5, however you can use the number display mode which will work with shaders.
NEED THIS FOR FABRIC 1.17.1!!
In reply to UnevenMedia:
https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/light-overlay/files/3352825 there already is a version for that
Just waiting on the 1.19.3 release. Not expecting it any time soon but as a fullbright user it would be very appreciated.

hoping too
Just a heads up for anyone using Forge, default light levels for spawning are set wrong. To change this you need to install something that allows you to change the mod settings. This mod suggests "Mod Menu", but that is Fabric only. I found that "Game Menu Mod Option [Forge]" works fine for my 1.19.2 world.
While in game:
- Esc to menu
- click "mod options"
- search "light overlay"
- click "config"
- set light level and secondary light level to 0
Let me know if there's a better way, but this worked for me.
Now that I'm no longer in the heat of the moment, the mod still seems to think mobs can spawn at a light level of 7 instead of 0. Changing settings via Mod Menu doesn't seem to fix things.
Can you please fix the Architectury dependancy for Fabric. I can't use the mod on 1.19
EDIT: For those who want to get this working on 1.19.x try the Modrinth Page for Architectury.
are the blue crosses supposed to overwrite yellow and reds?
Lost key binding in 1.19.2
I can't bind a key to use the mod
Config missing in Fabric 1.19.2. There is no config button in modmenu.
bitte 1.19 fabric version
There is one, right here
There is no Setting of key binding after the version 1.19.2. How to change setting of key binding on version 1.19.2?
Works well just waiting for a 1.19.1 release

And you got it.
CAN YOU PLEASE, Fix the link to Architectury to lead to the new one. ALSO label Architectury as FABRIC OR FORGE on the main page so I am not just downloading from the main page and wondering why it crashes? Something that should have taken me a couple minutes took me 10 because I expect to download the Fabric version and download the forge version. This will probably fix half of your crash reporting in the future.
I have installed as instructed... It won't work. Using the Forge Version. If I open the game. With just those 3 mods in the folder. My game crashes.
Could there be an option to disable the light levels for the deep dark like the mushroom biome since mobs don't spawn in the deep dark.
Heads up you need to install Mod Menu to access the settings page
