Light Overlay (Rift/Forge/Fabric)
This mod provides users with a NEI-like light overlay.
This mod requires Rift, Forge or Fabric. (Fabric API and Architectury are required for Fabric, Cloth Config (Forge) and Architectury are required for Forge)
Light Overlay is a client ONLY mod, putting this on a server will do nothing.
Press F7 to toggle the light overlay, configurable through Controls Settings.
A yellow cross means that mobs can spawn at night, a red cross means that mobs can spawn anytime.

Known Issue:
This mod does not work well with OptiFine shaders: https://github.com/shedaniel/LightOverlay-Fabric/issues/5, however you can use the number display mode which will work with shaders.
Hiya, nice work on this mod! I think it's really great.
After having problems with the latest version running on minecraft 1.16.5, with fabric api 0.29.4 and architectury-1.3.83-forge i tested some older version and came to the conclusion version 5.5.4 is running without any problems on minecraft 1.16.5 , dont know why though.
Note:
architectury-1.3.83-forge is not needed with the older version of lightoverlay
I am using Optifine with a custom texture pack and using SEUS Renewed shader while playing DW20 1.16.4. Light Overlay works with Numbers great. I hope this helps someone else :)
For people reading the comments below this one thinking Light Overlay is a hot mess, it honestly isn't — At least, on 1.16.4. Just fetch the latest versions of Architectury, Fabric API and this mod. No problems so far.

And then 1.16.5 happened :P
In reply to triviakitty:
Should still be fine :p
I just downloaded it but i can't start Minecraft with the following message:
Could someone help me please?
Thanks
Edit: Nevermind, it works. Was my fault. I used the wrong Architectury
In reply to Frubble:
O` man, I have this problem too and I don't know how fix it, can u help me pleasee? :)
In reply to luck_man05:
Sure, I downloaded and installed Fabric with Java. Then i downloaded FabricAPI, Architectury (Fabric) and the Light Overlay mod. All 3 with the version 1.16.4.
Then i moved these 3 mods into the 'mods' folder and it worked.
e
alright I am trying to solve my problem on my own but to my understanding this mod is compatible with forge and Fabric api and I am using forge. from what I have read on this and the downloads page I should be able to just install it right? anyway I have gotten a message that this mod requires Cloth-config and Architectury. I have downloaded both of them and placed them in my mods folder from here https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/architectury-forge AND https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/cloth-config-forge these have satisfied those requirements. AND it works as soon as i disabled my shaderpack!
it says this when i try to boot up minecraft i have both fabric api and archtecture help
In reply to bibibaggins_004:
You need the latest version of Fabric API
Can confirm what Hebgbs said. Using the latest version of Light Overlay with the latest version of Architectury and API Fabric creates instability and game crash.
After I gave a damn and tested some more, I've written a blog post on Planet Minecraft detailing the issue and how to get it working today.
Confirmed working on open-source systems for Fabric 0.10.8 with Fabric API 0.29.1.
Confirmed failing on open-source systems with OptiFabric 1.8.13.
Test conditions: Three profiles; Fabric "Core" I use as a template, "Basic" mods that I use across all profiles, "OptiFine" with OptiFabric and OptiFine binary. Of the three, the last fails to open, crashing with an indiscernible error unreported by Fabric.
I'll shoot a message over to the OptiFabric devs and see if they can help you figure this out.
In reply to hebgbs:
The new fabric api broke optifabric.
It keeps telling me I need clothconfig installed but I have it installed right from the listed link. I was using this mod a few months ago on fabric but coming back to MC I can't get it working on forge at all despite having the two additional required mods installed.
Getting the error
> net.fabricmc.loader.discovery.ModResolutionException: Could not find required mod: lightoverlay requires {fabric-api @ [>=0.29.1]}
... But I have Fabric API v0.29.1 installed.
In reply to BrekiTomasson:
Same here, I even ran it without this mod but with Fabric API 0.29.1 in the hopes of fixing it, it didn't.
