Description

At a glance

  • Create Material Checklist on EMI's recipe tree writes the tree's total cost onto a paper checklist.
  • Hold a checklist, or a binder of them, and EMI's Material Checklist sidebar page shows what you still have to find. Rows leave the list as you pick the materials up.
  • The same page also reads Create schematicannon clipboards, Building Gadgets copy paste gadgets, MineColonies resource scrolls and your pinned FTB Quests quests. Scroll over the page's button to flip between them.
  • With Applied Energistics 2: rows the network holds turn green and can be pulled out, rows it can craft can be ordered, and the crafting tree can encode its recipes as patterns in one press.
  • Only EMI is required. AE2, Create, Building Gadgets, MineColonies and FTB Quests are each optional.

Material checklists

Needs: EMI, on NeoForge, Minecraft 1.21.1.

1) Open EMI's recipe tree for what you want to build or craft, and pick the recipes you like.

2) Press Create Material Checklist. It uses one sheet of paper and writes the tree's total cost onto a Material Checklist item. The paper comes from your ME network if a terminal is open, then your inventory, then your binder.

3) Hold the checklist and open your inventory. Add the Material Checklist page to a sidebar in EMI's settings first, if it is not there yet.

  • A row shows how many of a material you still have to carry, in short form (1.5k, 500k). Hover it for the exact amount missing and needed. Materials you already carry enough of stay on the list, dimmed, with a check mark, at the end.
  • Click the page's button to reopen the crafting tree the checklist was written from, with the recipes you picked.
  • If you already carry a checklist for the same item but the amount or the recipes have changed, an Update Material Checklist button appears next to Create. It rewrites that checklist and uses no paper.
  • The Create button hides itself when you already carry exactly that checklist.
  • Shift+right-click a checklist in your hand to erase it back into paper. The paper goes into the paper slot of a binder you carry if it has room, else into your hand.
  • Ctrl+middle-click a row to erase the checklist back into paper. The paper goes to a binder's paper slot, then your inventory, then your ME network if a terminal is open, then the ground.

The binder

A Material Checklist Binder (book, paper and string) holds up to a double chest of checklists. Hold it and it stands in for the checklist you have selected.

  • Right-click to open it and pick one, or take checklists in and out like a chest.
  • Shift+scroll while holding it flips through the checklists.
  • Scroll over the sidebar page's button to flip through them while an inventory is open.
  • The last slot is a paper slot. Spare paper kept there is used for new checklists when you and your network have none.
  • New checklists go into the first binder you carry that has room.

With Applied Energistics 2

Needs: Applied Energistics 2. Without it, none of this appears.

On the checklist page:

  • A green background means the network holds enough of that row. Shift+click takes exactly that amount.
  • A + mark means the network has a pattern for it. Ctrl+click opens AE2's craft window with the missing amount filled in. Shift+click with nothing in stock turns into a craft request too.
  • The tree and the page count what your network holds, so progress matches what you could really get your hands on.

On the crafting tree:

  • Open a pattern encoding terminal (wireless or not), then EMI's crafting tree, and press Encode Patterns. Recipes the network can already craft are skipped, and the mod checks you have enough blank patterns first.
  • Middle-click a recipe to encode just that one, ctrl+middle-click to encode it and everything under it.
  • The S and F buttons are the terminal's own substitution settings, so every pattern follows them.
  • Recipes the network can already craft are tinted in the tree.
  • In EMI's crafting mode, Craft Missing orders every missing material the network has a pattern for.

One page, many lists

The Material Checklist page has one list for each of these that you carry. Scroll over the page's button to flip through them. When you open an inventory, the page starts on whatever you hold, and every other list stays one scroll away.

  • Material checklists, loose or filed in a binder.
  • A Building Gadgets copy paste gadget: the page shows what its copy is built from.
  • A MineColonies resource scroll: the page shows what that builder still needs, read live from the colony.
  • A Create clipboard that a schematicannon wrote.
  • Your pinned FTB Quests quests, with FTB Quests installed. See below.

A list with nothing left on it leaves the page. If the page is missing from EMI's sidebar, right-click a binder or a checklist: the mod tells you in the chat how to add it.

Pinned quests

With FTB Quests installed, the page also lists the items and fluids your pinned quests still need. You do not need to hold the quest book, and holding it opens the page on this list.

  • Quests that ask for the same item share one row. Hover it to see the amount for each quest.
  • Smart filters and tags cycle through what they accept. Click a row to pick one item. Ctrl+click (Cmd on macOS) later to change the pick. Picks are saved for each quest book.
  • Middle-click a row to open its quest.
  • A green check means your inventory already covers a quest task that uses up the item.
  • With AE2 and an ME terminal open, Shift+click takes the missing amount from the network and Ctrl+click opens the craft window with it filled in.

Requirements

  • EMI, on NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1.
  • Applied Energistics 2 — optional. Adds network stock, pulling and crafting from the checklist, pattern encoding and Craft Missing.
  • Create, Building Gadgets, MineColonies — optional, each adds one more checklist source.
  • FTB Quests — optional, adds your pinned quests to the page.

The checklist items and the binder are registered on both sides, so a server needs the mod too. EMI and the rest are client-side.

An Updated Applied EMI

This is a new version of Applied EMI, featuring everything from the original, including pattern encoding and the checklist page, along with additional features. The mod ID has changed, so be sure to remove the old jar when installing this mod.
