Description
Dragon Block: Tenkaichi
A Dragon Ball RPG mod. Create your own warrior, choose a race, train your stats, fly, charge your Ki, fire a Kamehameha that carves a trench through the land and awaken a Super Saiyan transformation with its own cutscene.
Disclosure: Dragon Block: Tenkaichi was made entirely with Claude and Claude Code (AI by Anthropic). The code, textures, sounds, translations, tests and documentation were all produced with Claude at the request of the author, Sh4d0wJ0J0. This is stated openly so that nobody is misled.
Unofficial fan project based on Dragon Ball by Akira Toriyama. Not affiliated with Bird Studio, Shueisha, Toei Animation or Bandai Namco. All textures, models and sounds are original and generated by scripts; nothing is taken from the series or from games.
What the mod changes in the game
The survival loop is turned into a character-driven martial arts RPG:
- You are no longer a plain player: on first join you build a character with a race, a look and a set of 12 stats that grow as you train and fight.
- Health, food and armor are shown by a custom HUD with your portrait, Battle Power, Ki and stamina, instead of the standard bars.
- Combat is built around combos, guards, dodges, lock-on and energy techniques rather than just swinging a weapon.
- You can fly, break the sound barrier, charge a visible aura and reshape the terrain with your attacks.
- Enemies are measured in Battle Power: a stronger opponent is genuinely dangerous, and surviving a hopeless fight can make you stronger.
Features
Character creation
- A creator with a live 3D preview (rotate and zoom), three tabs and a random button; it opens automatically the first time you join.
- 10 playable races, each with its own look, stat affinities and passive abilities.
- Appearance options: presentation, height, build, skin color, eyes, eyebrows, expression, voice, aura color, feature color, 7 hairstyles and 4 outfits (martial arts gi, battle armor, casual, natural), plus a toggle for the Saiyan tail.
- High-resolution procedural skins with shading, detailed faces and 3D clothing layers, or keep your own skin.
The 10 races and what they change in play
- Saiyan: full Zenkai (power boost after surviving near-death fights), Battle Hunger (martial arts grow faster against strong opponents) and a tail.
- Half-Saiyan: reduced Zenkai and Hidden Potential, so you hit harder when your health is low.
- Human: trains and masters techniques faster, and Ki techniques cost less.
- Namekian: regenerates using Ki out of combat, has longer melee reach, antennae and ears.
- Frieza Race: survives without air, is immune to freezing, and has a first-form-style design with colored gems, horns and a thick tail.
- Majin: regenerates even in combat, has an elastic body (less knockback and fall damage) and absorbs on kills.
- Android: never gets training fatigue, regenerates Ki twice as fast and cannot be sensed from afar.
- Bio-Android: regeneration, absorption and Zenkai, with an imperfect-form inspired design (spotted body, crest, wings and a stinger tail).
- Kaioshin: stronger Ki techniques and cheaper Ki use.
- Demon Realm Race: Demonic Rage at low health and Ki recovery from melee hits, with demon horns.
Stats and progression
- 12 stats, Training Points and Battle Power that grows with your stats, your form and your current condition.
- A stat cap that rises with the Potential stat, so you must keep training to break your limits.
- Training with practice per stat, fatigue, diminishing returns and anti-farming rules for combat rewards, so progress comes from real fights and real training instead of grinding one action.
- Zenkai: surviving a fight against a stronger enemy at near-death gives a lasting power boost.
Training with a Master
- The Martial Arts Master NPC trains you through four activities: meditation (hit the beat), Ki control (hold the charge inside a band), sparring and a dodge drill.
- Each session rewards Training Points and practice in the matching stats, and the Master teaches the Kamehameha once you are ready.
Combat
- Melee combos, contextual heavy attacks (launcher, smash, rush, guard break), counters and melee clashes.
- Directional guard with perfect block, dodge with invulnerability frames, vanish and teleport behind your target, dash and air recovery.
- Lock-on with target switching, hit-stop, camera shake and impact effects.
- A combo breaker so creatures cannot chain you forever: after three consecutive hits you briefly cannot be stunned again.
- First-person combat: both fists are visible in combat stance, with guard, alternating punches and uppercuts.
Flight
- Hover, normal and supersonic flight with inertia, sonic booms and shockwave landings. Flight costs Ki, so you must manage your energy.
Ki and techniques
- Ki charging with a smooth, animated 3D aura (four graphics quality levels), Ki regeneration and exhaustion.
- Ki Blast with homing.
- Kamehameha: the iconic two-handed charging pose in third and first person, an always-blue beam you can aim while firing, and a trench carved through the terrain.
- Beam Clash: when two beams meet, both fighters push the clash by pulsing on the beat.
- Environmental destruction with four modes: off, visual only, real, or real with regeneration.
Transformations
- Data-driven forms, loaded from datapacks, so new forms can be added without changing the mod.
- Super Saiyan for Saiyans and Half-Saiyans: awaken it by being pushed to the brink by a stronger enemy once your power is high enough. It multiplies your Battle Power, drains Ki, and gets cheaper as your mastery grows.
- Each form has its own cinematic. The Super Saiyan awakening features close-ups, lightning, a cracking ground, floating rocks, flickering hair, a scream and a golden aura pillar.
Enemies
- Saiyan Raider: a fighter with combo, guard, volley, cannon and dodge behavior and an enraged second phase. It is a real fight, not a punching bag, and a good source of Zenkai.
Interface, effects and audio
- A fully custom interface: themed panels, buttons, sliders and backgrounds for the creator, the character menu (stats, techniques, forms, settings) and the training screen.
- A HUD with portrait, Battle Power, health, Ki, stamina and food gauges, armor, technique icons and a lock-on reticle.
- Custom particles for hits, guards, dodges, auras, transformations, beams, explosions, clashes, lightning and rocks.
- 36 original synthesized sound effects (impacts, auras, beams, thunder, screams and more).
- Items: Senzu Bean, Master and Saiyan Raider spawn eggs and a creative tab.

- Common and client configuration files with automatic migration between versions.
- Commands under

A short example of play
You join a world and build a Saiyan. You meet the Master, meditate on the beat and spar to raise your stats, then learn the Kamehameha. A Saiyan Raider attacks: you lock on, guard its combo, dodge behind it and charge a Kamehameha while it enrages. When you fall near death against a stronger enemy, your power surges: the screen darkens, lightning strikes, the ground cracks and you awaken as a Super Saiyan.
Installation
- Install the mod on the server and on every client for multiplayer. All gameplay is decided by the server.
- Single player works out of the box. Settings live in the common and client configuration files.
Status and plans
This is an early version of the mod (a playable vertical slice), not the whole of Dragon Ball. In development: more transformations for every race, more Masters and iconic locations, techniques learned from Masters or bought, and a story following the Saiyan Saga. Features will be added gradually and listed in the changelog.
