Camera Zoom for Immersive Aircraft

Camera Zoom

Camera Zoom adds adjustable third-person camera distance to Immersive Aircraft.

Move the camera closer for precise flying and landings, or farther away for larger aircraft and better visibility. Camera distance changes smoothly and can be saved separately for each aircraft type.

Required: This is a client-side add-on. Immersive Aircraft must also be installed.

Features

  • Smooth adjustable third-person camera distance
  • Step-based or continuous zoom controls
  • Four presets: Close, Standard, Wide, and Cinematic
  • Separate saved camera distance for each aircraft type
  • Optional speed-based camera pullback
  • Smooth recovery after walls or other obstacles block the camera
  • Compact fading camera HUD
  • Support for compatible Immersive Aircraft add-on vehicles

Controls

Page Up Zoom out; hold for continuous movement
Page Down Zoom in; hold for continuous movement
Home Reset to the standard aircraft view
End Cycle through camera presets

Controls can be changed in Minecraft's keybind settings and only apply while riding a compatible aircraft in third-person view.

Configuration

Settings are stored in:

config/camera-zoom.properties

You can configure:

  • Minimum and maximum camera distance
  • Zoom step size and continuous zoom speed
  • Camera smoothing
  • Preset distances
  • Per-aircraft memory
  • Dynamic speed-based zoom
  • HUD visibility and position

Installation

  1. Install Immersive Aircraft for your Minecraft version.
  2. Install Fabric API when using Fabric.
  3. Download the Camera Zoom file matching your Minecraft version and mod loader.
  4. Place the file in your Minecraft mods folder.

Camera Zoom is client-side and normally does not need to be installed on a dedicated server.

Compatibility

  • Minecraft 1.20.1: Fabric and Forge
  • Minecraft 1.21.1: Fabric and NeoForge
  • Minecraft 1.21.11: Fabric and NeoForge
  • Java: Java 17 for Minecraft 1.20.1; Java 21 or newer for Minecraft 1.21.x
  • Environment: Client-side

Compatible aircraft using the shared Immersive Aircraft vehicle system receive their own saved camera profile.

Forge 1.20.1: use Camera Zoom 2.0.1, which fixes the startup crash in the earlier 2.0.0 Forge release. The current files for the other supported loader and Minecraft combinations are version 2.0.0.
