Description
BOM Races turns Minecraft into a race-based RPG. Choose one of 10 playable races, each a genuinely different way to play — then shape it through a skill tree, quests, and its own active ability.
The idea behind it
Every race is a trade: what it gives, it also takes. An Orc is a wall that hits hard but crawls under heavy armor. A Dwarf mines like no one and shrugs off blows, but is short on health. An Elf reaches farther than anyone with a bow, yet can't stomach meat.
A race changes how the game feels to play, not how many buttons you have.
The ten races
- Human — versatile, no restrictions, no penalties
- Dwarf — mining and endurance; sees in the dark underground
- Orc — tank: takes hits and dishes them out, slowed by heavy armor
- Elf — precision and range, master of the bow
- Lycan — raw strength, little armor, can't wear netherite
- Merfolk — unmatched in deep water, out of place on land
- Dragonkin — fire immunity and power, but water hurts it
- Catfolk — speed, stealth, and a two-block jump
- Lizardfolk — poison immunity and regeneration
- Sylvan — falling, luck, and nature
The skill branch
Each race has its own tree of 16 nodes with three mutually exclusive trunks — Purist (lean harder into your identity), Adapted (ease your penalty at the cost of your strength), and Deviant (change your axis entirely). Every step down is a fork: choosing one path closes the other.
A mitigation cap means the branch softens your race's penalty but never erases it — you decide which weaknesses to ease and which to live with. The active ability isn't handed to you; you unlock it at the root, and sharing it with nearby allies is bought at the center of the tree.
How you earn power
Skill points don't come from vanilla XP. Each race has 15 of its own quests plus a shared daily pool, drawn from a shuffled deck so they never repeat in the same order. Completing them earns Proofs of Craft, which you combine with race-specific offerings at the Craft Table — a ritual, not a crafting grid — to forge a Tome that grants a point.
Built to be configured
A server config scales buffs and debuffs separately, adjusts any single race, and can toggle active abilities off entirely. Fully translated (English and Spanish, with regional variants).
Appearance (in development) — each race has cosmetic parts you can toggle and tint; nothing is imposed by the race.
