Description
NexNPC lets you add NPCs to your world and give them dialogues, quests, shops, combat abilities, and boss phases. Everything is configured in-game through menus. No JSON or scripting required.

Getting Started
Take the Wand from the NexNPC creative tab. Right-click a block to create an NPC and edit it, or right-click the air to view a list of nearby NPCs. The Cloner saves NPCs so you can place copies later, organized into 9 tabs.
NPCs
Each NPC can use a player skin (by username or URL), any mob from the game or other mods, or a Blockbench model if you have GeckoLib installed. You can customize the size of the head, body, arms, and legs; name and title colors; equipment; and movement behavior: standing still, wandering, or following a route through waypoints you mark in the world.
Combat settings include melee and ranged damage, aggro range, knockback, immunities, friendly or hostile factions, respawning, and loot drops.
Dialogues
Dialogues are built using a node-based editor. Connect cards with arrows, each supporting up to 5 responses, and create branching paths with conditions such as items, faction points, quests, achievements, tags, time of day, and previously viewed dialogues.
Responses can give or remove items, execute commands, start or complete quests, and open a shop. There are four dialogue screen styles (classic box, visual novel, cinematic, and chat), and their appearance can be customized using a resource pack.
Quests
There are 24 objective types. Some are simple, such as collecting items, killing mobs, talking to someone, or reaching a location. Others require more preparation, such as escorting an NPC, defending an area against waves of enemies, chasing a fleeing NPC, delivering a package, or defeating a boss.
Quests can be chained together, repeated daily or weekly, have time limits, and be shared with a group. Players have a quest journal (J by default), a compass next to the hotbar, and markers above NPCs' heads.
Bosses
Any NPC can have multiple phases based on its health. Each phase can change the model, music, and damage, and trigger a short cinematic. There are 20 abilities to choose from, including meteors, vortexes, shields, illusions, and cages.
Health and damage scale according to the number of nearby players, and every player who contributed to the fight receives loot.
Traders
Up to 27 offers per NPC, each with its own stock that replenishes after a set amount of time. If you select an item from your inventory, its enchantments and custom name are preserved.
Pokémon Trainers (Optional, in development)
If you have Cobblemon 1.8 or newer installed, NPCs can battle players using a team of up to 6 Pokémon. You can choose the AI difficulty, 1v1 or 2v2 battles, rematch rules, and rewards.
Without Cobblemon, this feature does not appear anywhere in the interface.
For Server Owners
- The /npcpao commands can be used from datapacks, command blocks, and the server console to show or hide NPCs, freeze them, make them friendly, spawn one at any position or in any dimension, open a shop, or start a battle.
- Each part of the mod has its own permission (nexnpc.dialogs, nexnpc.quests, etc.), allowing builders to edit NPCs without being operators. On Arclight, these permissions can be assigned through permission plugins such as LuckPerms.
- NPCs are automatically backed up. You can restore a missing NPC or export all NPCs to a file.
- Multiple administrators can edit dialogues and quests simultaneously.
Languages
English and Spanish (still in development).
Requirements
NeoForge 1.21.1. GeckoLib and Cobblemon are optional.
