Have you ever looked at the common pigs, chickens, cows, etc, then looked at the horse? You may have noticed a clear difference in design, and how much better the horse looked. As you know, something similar happened in 1.13, but in reverse. So the question is, why make the horse worse when you could make the other animals better? This mod aims to do just that. This mod is very simple in its goal--better animal models but without adding genders, breeds, special care, etc., as some of us simply want the vanilla animals to look a bit better.
If you like the models in this mod, and are looking for some new animals to spice up your game, check out Better Animals Plus, a mod adding a variety of new creatures.

FAQ
Q: Can I disable certain replacements?
A: Yes. There is a configuration file that allows you to disable replacements.
Q: Is this mod compatible with [mod]?
A: Unless it's listed in the features, then no, we don't replace its models. Some mods will also override our overrides or cause other issues. See "What mods is this not compatible with" below.
Q: Does the server's configuration affect anything?
A: No, this mod does nothing when installed on a server, and it's not required to be installed on the server.
Q: Can I join servers with this mod, without the server having it installed?
A: Yes, this mod is client-only. It could be compared to a resource pack, but fancier. You can join vanilla servers with it to no issue whatsoever.
Q: Can I use this mod in a pack?
A: Yes, so long as it is hosted on Curse or private. If you wish to publicly host a pack on another platform (like technic), please ask or consider using Curse as it supports developers.
Q: What mods is this not compatible with?
A: We explicitly do not support Wolf Armor or Spiders 2.0. There are also known incompatibilities with Charm variants, which can be disabled. There are also known problems with texture packs using Optifine's Random Entity Textures feature, these can be disabled in Optifine's settings ("Video Settings" -> "Quality" -> "Random Entities").
Q: Why do my animals look normal or have odd textures when I use this mod?
A: It's likely another mod or texture pack is overriding our model changes or applying a different texture. You should see the question above for known incompatibilities and fixes. Try without certain mods or without Optifine. You can also use our config to disable the problem entity override and go back to the normal model if your textures are weird.
Additional Information
Better Animal Models is a client-only mod. Installing it on the server will work, but simply disable it. Clients with Better Animal Models are able to connect to vanilla servers (so long as it does not break rules, and they do not have any other non-client mods).
Note the linked Discord is the Better Animals Plus Discord, but due to the connected nature of the two mods, we have a section for Better Animal Models as well.

In reply to s2_wolf_sz:
We cannot mod Bedrock Edition.
Em resposta ao itsmeowdev :
I understand perfectly, thank you
Hey, I'm using the alpha version for 1.18.2.
Any plans to make the model scale configurable?
The cows are hAmongus for however you spell it, they are huuuuge.
I'd prefer them like 80-70% of their current size.
In reply to chunchunmachu:
Is the alpha on discord?
In reply to Sev_Brigstocke:
Yep.
In reply to chunchunmachu:
I actually found a solution.
I used Pehkui to change entity model scale. Now they are not too large anymore!
I specifically used this line: "/scale set .75 @e[type=minecraft:cow]"
Hey, I've installed your 1.18 forge version, and found it is wierd when animals swivel their heads, especially sheep, pigs and cows. It looks like they're using incorrect horizontal swivel axis, rather than vertical ones in your early releases.
In reply to kiyoochan:
Could you get a screenshot or video of this? I'm not really sure what you mean.
In reply to itsmeowdev:
Here's the video, and correction, pigs seem to behave normally.
In reply to kiyoochan:
Seems you're right, they seem to be rotation on the Z axis instead of the Y axis. Weird.
In reply to itsmeowdev:
BTW, are you going to make other variants in future? Like horse, mule, Llama, etc.
i know yall are working onthe 1.18 port/beta, but will we see a 1.18 forge?
In reply to azarion_prime2005:
Yes, we already have a 1.18 forge version in beta. Both Forge and Fabric will be maintained for 1.16+
Just got on the Discord to download the alpha. I'm excited to test it out! I've always loved your designs for the animals because they add more realism to the game, and your expansion to Fabric has made me willing to switch over and pair this mod with some other beautiful mods. Thank you so much for your hard work and high-quality designs! Wishing you the best!
1.18.2 at any point?
In reply to lordsavageofthedark:
If you'd read the comment directly below yours, you'd see that we already have it in alpha. It will be coming shortly as we finalize some new content.
I saw and downloaded the alpha version for 1.18.2 from github. I'm just wondering if you will be supporting 1.18.1 specifically as it is the only version for 1.18 and is incompatible.
In reply to chunchunmachu:
1.18.1 is not supported at the moment, didn't think anyone needed it. I could add support for maybe if you have a good reason lol
In reply to itsmeowdev:
Well, I don't have a good reason, tbh. I'm just too lazy to upgrade to 1.18.2 as it means I will have to redownload and check mod compatibilities again. Maybe I'll update to 1.18.2 if you will not support it soon xD
(I'm actually self hosting a server from a linux VM without GUI, you'll need to walk the extra mile just to setup the mods)
