Ars 'n Spells 3.4.0 (Forge 1.20.1)
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
[3.4.0] - 2026-10-21
Fixed
- Touch casting from Ars 'n' Spells carriers. A Touch spell on an exported Iron's scroll, an inscribed item, or a bound Iron's book (wheel, hotkey or staff) now hits the block or creature you aim at exactly as the same spell does from an Ars spell book. Old scrolls and books are fixed in place; nothing needs rebuilding.
- A Touch cast that hit a block was reported as a failure, and on the Iron's wheel that cancelled its cooldown. It is now reported as cast.
- A Touch spell with nothing in reach is refused cleanly: nothing is spent, trained or put on cooldown. Before, a miss trained the spell's school.
- Self and Projectile spells aimed at a block, and Sensitive spells aimed at water, resolve as they do from a spell book.
- The server decides the target. What your client was aiming at is only compared, so a stale or forged aim can never redirect a cast.
- Details and evidence:
docs/3.4.0/touch-regression.md.
Added
- Iron's spells as Ars glyphs. With Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks installed, every Iron's player spell has a real Ars glyph for each of its levels: 111 spells, 777 glyphs, in both tested Iron's builds. Learn a glyph the normal Ars way and add it to spells like any other glyph.
- The form decides the target: Self on you, Touch on what you touch, Projectile where it lands, Underfoot below you. Spells that only affect their caster work only with Self, and the spell book explains a refused combination.
- Amplify and Dampen raise or lower the cast level within the spell's range.
- The Iron's spell's own mana cost is added to the Ars spell's cost under your mana mode and paid once (the cross-cast multiplier applies once). A cast that cannot pay is refused before anything happens.
- Iron's own learning requirements apply, and its cooldowns apply per spell, shared by all levels. Charged and channelled spells charge or channel in Iron's cast slot while the rest of the Ars spell waits, and they never cancel a native Iron's cast you already have in progress.
- Each level is its own glyph and carries its own Ars tier, from Iron's rarity for that level: Common is tier I, Uncommon and Rare tier II, Epic and Legendary tier III.
- Spells cast by turrets, runes and other non-player casters do not run imported glyphs.
- If Iron's is removed or the server disables a spell, its glyphs stay in your books and inventory as dormant glyphs that do nothing and say why. They work again when restored; no glyph turns into another effect.
- The Glyph Press turns a filled Iron's scroll into the glyph for that spell at that level.
- Recipes: gold ingot, Source gem, gold ingot / archwood planks, lectern, archwood planks / three obsidian (needs Iron's); two blank glyph plates from smooth stone, a gold nugget and an amethyst shard.
- One conversion uses the scroll, one plate, the tier's Source gems and Source: tier I 1 gem and 500 Source (5 s), tier II 2 and 1,500 (7 s), tier III 4 and 3,000 (10 s). Servers can change these. There is no failure chance.
- It holds 4,000 Source and draws from nearby Source jars while a job needs it; an idle Press never does.
- Nothing is consumed until the glyph is finished. A running job locks its inputs; Cancel returns them and the Source. Breaking a Press drops its contents once, and an unfinished job gives back its inputs, not a glyph.
- Blank, multi-spell, invalid-level, exported-Ars and proxy scrolls are refused, each with its own message, and spells Iron's makes you learn must be learned there first.
- Hoppers can supply scrolls from above and plates and gems from the sides, and take glyphs from below. Only a player starts a job.
- The screen shows the spell, the glyph and its tier, whether you know it, its forms, augments and restrictions, the costs, progress and a help page. JEI lists every available conversion. The worn notebook has a Glyph Press chapter with a worked example.
- New commands:
/ans glyph inspect, and for operators/ans glyph catalog, coverage, mappingsandpress <pos>. - New server settings in
ars_n_spells-server.toml(sectionImported Iron's Glyphs):enable_iron_glyphs,enable_glyph_press,iron_glyph_mana_bonus_policy(per_spellby default, so learning all ten levels of one spell does not give ten glyphs' worth of maximum mana),max_imported_effects_per_spell,max_foreign_emissions_per_cast,max_active_glyph_sessions_per_player,glyph_press_source_capacity,glyph_press_source_scan_interval_ticks,glyph_press_source_radius. All apply without a restart. - For pack makers:
data/<namespace>/ans_iron_glyphs/controls per-spell availability, tiers and Press costs, plus spell and school allow and deny lists, reloadable with/reload. An invalid reload is rejected as a whole and the previous behaviour kept. New item tagars_n_spells:glyph_press_catalysts. - Documentation:
