DAI Damage Indicators — v1.5.0 → v1.6.0
DAI 3.3 Modernization
- Updated the addon for DAI 3.3.
- Updated managed addon metadata to v1.6.0.
- Preserved compatibility with the existing DAI ADDON lifecycle.
- Kept the pack fully datapack-driven with no required resource pack.
Damage Detection Reliability
Preserved the existing 20 TPS damage sampling path for accurate hit detection.
Continued using real server damage statistics instead of switching to a narrower attack-only reaction event.
Maintained support for:
- Melee damage
- Projectile damage
- Indirect damage
- DAI-native entity combat
- Other supported server-side damage events
Victim Resolution Optimization
- Reworked victim selection so the damaged target is resolved once per hit.
- Added temporary attacker/victim state handling for the active hit.
- Removed repeated victim-resolution work across multiple damage-severity branches.
- Reduced unnecessary entity selector processing during combat.
Damage Tier Processing
- Streamlined the light, medium, and heavy indicator paths.
- Only the matching damage tier is now processed for each detected hit.
- Preserved existing indicator behavior, text sizing, and severity presentation.
Floating Number Performance
- Reduced floating damage-number movement updates from 20 TPS to 10 TPS.
- Added display interpolation so numbers remain visually smooth between updates.
- Preserved the same overall upward travel distance.
- Preserved approximately the same 3.5-second indicator lifetime.
- Reduced continuous server-side command workload while keeping the visual result intact.
Runtime Cleanup
- Improved temporary state cleanup during reloads.
- Added cleanup for stale attacker/victim tracking data.
- Preserved existing player toggle persistence.
- Preserved existing damage-indicator settings across reloads.
Compatibility & Behavior
- Existing colors and severity tiers remain unchanged.
- Existing fallback damage-number behavior remains unchanged.
- Existing enable/disable functionality remains unchanged.
- Existing resource-pack independence remains unchanged.
- Existing gameplay behavior is preserved while reducing unnecessary processing.
