ChaosLoop turns a survival world into a session with a shape. Events fire on a clock you set, minigames interrupt the game and put everybody in an arena, and a curse builds behind all of it until somebody kills the Ender Dragon or it kills everybody.
Vanilla 1.20.1. No mods needed.
⚠ IMPORTANT — recommended for the best experience
ChaosLoop runs on its own, but two free companions turn it into the whole thing:
- ChaosLoop for Fabric — the same half, for a Fabric server or for single player. It has this datapack inside it, so if you use the mod you do not need this download at all.
- ChaosLoop Plugin — real graves, player-skinned mimics, the inventory vault that keeps minigames fair, world reset, and walkie-talkies
- ChaosLoop Radio — the push-to-talk key for the walkie-talkie, and a cleaner scoreboard
Want the resource pack too? The walkie-talkie model, the ornate boss bars and the lucky block texture are not included here, because that art belongs to other creators. Message me on Discord: im_amjed1
The loop
Every few minutes something happens. 35 events on a weighted table — a location swap, shared health, an earthquake, a bounty on somebody's head, a village under siege, an inventory of lucky blocks, mimics wearing your friends' skins.

Ten minigames
Everything stops, everybody is lifted into an arena in the sky, and whatever you were carrying is held for you until it is over — so nobody wins because they turned up in netherite. Every effect you walked in with comes off at the door, too.
- The Race — 300 blocks, a lane each: a sprint, water you are handed a boat for, parkour over a lit pit, a cactus slalom, a low roof, ice
- The Maze — corridors three blocks wide, roofed so a minimap cannot read it, and a lit way out that is somewhere new every time. First three out take it
- Spleef — two floors of snow, dig the ground from under each other
- The Rising Floor — lava climbs, up to four different ways up, one gold block on each and only one of you fits
- Anvil Dodge — four phases, three lives, one always straight down
- King of the Hill — up to three hills, four ways up each
- Last Stand, Hot Potato, Tag, The Gather Race
Guaranteed minigames scale with the pace: 3 on Insane, 4 on Fast, 7 on Normal, 10 on Chill. The rest by chance.
The dragon curse
A countdown you cannot stop, in five stages. Mining slows, then weakness, then the world darkens. At stage five you have four hearts and death is permanent — you watch the rest as a spectator, and when the last of you goes down the run is lost.
Kill the dragon first and you get a written Chronicle: a leaderboard, every player's stats, ore counters, a clickable contents page, and a teaser for what comes next.
Install
Drop the zip in world/datapacks/ and /reload, then:
/function chaosloop:setup — pick a pace
/function chaosloop:menu — switch individual events on and off
/function chaosloop:start — begin
/function chaosloop:help — everything else
Optional: the plugin
ChaosLoop runs entirely on its own. The companion ChaosLoop Plugin adds what a datapack cannot do on 1.20.1: real graves, player-skinned mimics, the inventory vault that keeps minigames fair, a world reset, and a walkie-talkie if you run Simple Voice Chat.
Notes
- 1.20.1 only. It uses no command added after it and works around the ones it does not have.
- No resource pack, and it does not want one — everything runs on vanilla art.
