The Boring Vanilla Problem
What is up everyone. Let us be real for a second. Vanilla fishing in Minecraft Bedrock is completely dead and boring. You just stand near a pond for hours, click a button when the bobber goes down, and get a raw cod. There is no excitement, no real progression, and honestly, no reason to do it once you have a basic food farm. As someone who loves grinding in games, I got totally sick of this.
I wanted fishing to feel like an actual RPG mini-game, something that makes you want to keep casting your rod just for that one lucky pull. That is exactly why I built the Voxel Bro Fishing Overhaul. I have completely ripped out the boring vanilla mechanics and replaced them with a massive custom system featuring economy, rarities, streaks, and crazy rewards.
The New Rarity System
Forget about just catching random fish. Every single item you pull out of the water now belongs to a strict rarity tier. We have six different levels: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, and Mythic. Catching a Common salmon is fine, but the real adrenaline rush hits when you pull an Epic Nautilus Shell or a Mythic catch.
If you manage to catch a Legendary or Mythic item, the game actually plays a massive totem sound, drops a huge title on your screen, and announces your lucky catch to the entire server in the global chat. It is the ultimate way to flex on your friends when you pull something insane.
Leveling Up and Custom Economy
This add-on introduces a brand new economy system built entirely around fishing. Every time you catch something, you do not just get the item. You also earn custom Fishing XP and Coins. The rarer the catch, the more coins and XP you get. I even added a small chance to hit a jackpot where your coins get multiplied by 20x on a single catch. As you gather XP, your dedicated Fishing Level goes up. It gives you a real reason to keep grinding because you can actually track your progress and see yourself becoming a master angler.
The Streak Mechanic and Junk Penalty
We all know the pain of fishing for ten minutes only to pull up a rotten leather boot or a random stick. In this add-on, junk items actually ruin your day. I coded a custom streak system. Every time you catch a real fish or a treasure item, your streak goes up. But the second you hook a junk item like a bone or seaweed, your entire streak breaks. If you lose a massive streak of 25 or more, the game literally plays a sad bass sound to mock you. It makes you pray for clean catches so you can keep your combo going.
Milestones and Massive Rewards
To reward the ultimate grinders, I added a custom milestone system. The add-on runs in the background and tracks every single successful catch you make. When you hit specific numbers, you get rewarded instantly. Hitting 10 or 50 catches gives you some basic food items. But if you have the patience to hit 500 catches, the game directly drops 5 diamonds into your inventory. And for the absolute madmen who reach 1,000 catches, you are officially crowned a Legendary Angler, the whole server gets notified, and you receive 2 pure netherite ingots. Your hard work actually pays off.
Dynamic Events: Night Fishing and Frenzy
I wanted to add some strategy to when you fish. If you fish during the night time, the game detects it and gives you a 1.25x multiplier on all the coins you earn. It is a bit more dangerous because of the mobs, but the payout is totally worth it. Even better, there is a random global event called the Fishing Frenzy. Occasionally, the server will announce a frenzy, and for exactly five minutes, every single player gets double coins on all their catches. When that happens, you better drop whatever you are building and run to the nearest ocean.
Custom UI and Collection Log
You do not have to guess what your level is or how many fish you have caught. To check your stats, all you have to do is hold a standard book in your hand and sneak. This opens up my custom Voxel Bro Fishing Menu. From here, you can check your current level, total XP, wallet balance, and your best fishing streak. I also added a Collection Log that tracks all the unique types of fish and treasures you have discovered. It is perfect for completionists who want to catch all 16 unique items in the game. Oh, and I hid a few secret easter egg messages if you happen to stop at very specific, funny catch numbers. Good luck finding them.
Quick AI Heads-up
I used some AI tools to upscale the thumbnail and make the gallery screenshots look sharp for the add-on Look good.
