Potion of Decay Recipe

A simple Minecraft add-on for Minecraft Bedrock Edition and Minecraft Education that gives Wither Roses a useful brewing purpose.

Wither Roses are one of Minecraft's more unusual resources, but outside of decoration and applying the Wither effect when touched, they have relatively little practical use.

Potion of Decay Recipe changes that by allowing Wither Roses to be used in Brewing Stands to create Potions of Decay.

How It Works

Start with an Awkward Potion in a Brewing Stand.

Add a Wither Rose, and the Awkward Potion becomes a Potion of Decay.

The recipe fits naturally into Minecraft's existing brewing system while giving Wither Roses another meaningful survival use.

Potion Progression

Once a Potion of Decay has been brewed, Minecraft's normal potion mechanics can be used to create other supported forms, including Splash Potions of Decay, Lingering Potions of Decay, and Wither-tipped arrows through Bedrock's cauldron mechanics.

Survival Use

Wither Roses are still something players must earn.

Players can obtain them through Wither-related gameplay and then convert those flowers into a useful brewing ingredient.

The goal is to expand the usefulness of an existing Minecraft item without introducing unnecessary custom systems or replacing vanilla brewing mechanics.

Minecraft Education Applications

Potion of Decay Recipe is also compatible with Minecraft Education.

Because it uses Minecraft's existing Brewing Stand and recipe systems, it can be used in classroom worlds where educators are exploring crafting systems, cause and effect, resource progression, brewing mechanics, or structured survival activities.

The add-on does not require students to interact with any special scripting interface.
