Description
Andy's Better Double Doors
One interaction. One entrance. Better double doors for Minecraft Bedrock.
Andy's Better Double Doors makes the matching vanilla entrances you already build feel like one complete doorway. Use one half of a valid double door, double fence gate, double trapdoor, or 2×2 quad trapdoor, and the whole set opens or closes together.
It is made for Survival bases, multiplayer towns, Realms, servers, redstone builds, and players who want a polished vanilla-plus improvement without custom door blocks, recipes, tools, or experimental gameplay.
Features
- Opens and closes valid matching double doors with one interaction
- Supports matching double fence gates, double trapdoors, and 2×2 quad trapdoors
- Requires exact matching variants: wood species, copper oxidation stage, and waxed state all matter
- Requires matching adjacent same-facing door columns, end-to-end gates, and opposing-hinge trapdoors
- Keeps a set synchronized after a valid action repairs an external mismatch
- Supports wooden, copper, and iron doors according to their normal vanilla rules
- Synchronizes permitted redstone-driven actions when Redstone Synchronization is enabled
- Optional per-set proximity opening and closing
- Operator-only global configuration with
AdminDoorControlplus player-accessible per-set configuration with a vanillaDoorControlstick - Multiplayer, Realm, Standard graphics, and Vibrant Visuals ready
- No custom door models, new blocks, recipes, or permanent manual links
How it works
Build a valid matching set. Synchronization is on automatically.
- Use any member of an enabled set normally to open or close the whole entrance.
- If the set is invalid, incomplete, mismatched, or deliberately disabled, every member remains vanilla.
- Iron doors retain their normal hand-use restriction; redstone drives them.
- Proximity-driven movement plays one positioned vanilla-style open or close sound for the whole set, rather than a sound per member.
Proximity
Any player can enable Proximity for an individual set by crouch + using DoorControl on it.
- Doors and double gates use a two-block zone directly in front of and behind the joined entrance; it never extends sideways beyond its width.
- Double and quad trapdoors use a complete one-block perimeter, including corners.
- A proximity event is one open → exit → close cycle. It gives players a brief exit grace period, then closes after the last qualifying player leaves without repeatedly re-opening while they pass through.
- Redstone and Locks & Keys policy take precedence where necessary.
Administrator controls
Rename a vanilla stick AdminDoorControl in an anvil.
- Crouch + use it in air to open global settings.
- Crouch + use it on a valid set to configure that set.
- Or run
/scriptevent andydoors:admin settings.
Any player may crouch + use DoorControl on a valid entrance for that set's controls. Only operators may crouch + use AdminDoorControl for global controls.
Global settings:
- Enable Better Double Doors — master enable, on by default
- Redstone Synchronization — mirrors permitted redstone state changes, on by default
Per-set settings:
- Synchronization — on by default
- Proximity — off by default
Andy's Locks & Keys compatibility
Andy's Better Double Doors never guesses permission or bypasses a lock.
With Andy's Locks & Keys 0.11.3 or newer:
- Proximity opening is authorized by Locks & Keys using the same owner, bound-key, Master Key, shared-player, group, and public rules as a normal open action.
- Security locks remain fail-closed.
- Secured redstone synchronization is available only when the lock is set to Redstone Allowed.
- Separately locked adjacent blocks remain separate; different Lock IDs are never merged.
Without the companion update, automatic actions on a secured set fail closed rather than risking a bypass.
Installation guide
Windows, Android, iPhone, and iPad
- Download
Andys_Better_Double_Doors_0.1.15.mcaddonfrom the official CurseForge project. - Open the file with Minecraft Bedrock and wait for both packs to import.
- Create or edit a world.
- Activate Andy's Better Double Doors [BP] under Behavior Packs.
- Confirm that Andy's Better Double Doors [RP] is active under Resource Packs.
- Enter the world and build a valid matching entrance.
Minecraft Bedrock 26.30 or newer is required. Back up an important world before installing or updating any add-on.
Consoles
Consoles generally cannot import local .mcaddon files directly. Import and activate it on Windows or mobile, upload the prepared world to a Realm, then join that Realm from the console.
Compatibility and limitations
- Supports vanilla Bedrock doors, fence gates, and trapdoors. Third-party custom entrance blocks are not promised for this release.
- A matching set must remain complete. Breaking one member clears any saved settings; replacing it creates a fresh default-on set.
- The add-on uses stable Script APIs only. No experiments are required.
- Minecraft scripts cannot enumerate every block in every loaded chunk. Nearby player activity discovers ordinary redstone sets; configured proximity sets are persisted and monitored directly.
