Perfect Parries - Souls-Like Parrying

Adds a souls/RPG precision combat mechanic where if you block at the instant where you are supposed to take damage (perfect parry), you don't lose stamina, deflect some damage, and eventually stun the attacker upon exhausting their stamina.

Commands:

  • /perfectparries (/pp): UI for normal users
  • /perfectparries settings (/pp settings): UI for server administrators
  • /perfectparries effects (/pp effects): UI for users to select their desired parry effect

Features:

  • If you time your block at the moment the enemy's attack is landing, you deal some damage in return, don't lose stamina, and gain some signature energy
  • Special VFX & SFX upon perfect parries, counterattacks, staggers, and stuns
  • Counterattack: attacking right after a perfect parry deals extra damage and triggers special effects
  • Successful parries knock the opponent back and have a chance to stagger
  • Separate parry system for PvE and PvP, enabling proper balancing
  • Parry Effects: Speed, Damage Resistance, Regeneration, Heal, Stamina Restoration, Slow
  • Custom parrying, stun, and wake animations
  • On-screen reticle indicators for parry windows and counterattack windows
  • Optional ranged attack reflection (arrows / projectiles)
  • NPCs can parry players with their own configurable settings
  • Entity Stamina System:
    • All entities will have a configurable stamina system where they get stunned (special stun and wake animation) if stamina reaches 0
    • A stun allows for a critical attack window (default = 2.5x damage) or rest (heal, eat, reposition, etc.)
    • Each parry and attack will do a different/configurable amount of stamina to each mob
    • Optional stamina display

General: Parry

"parryWindowMs": window of time you can trigger a perfect parry
"reflectDamagePercent": % of incoming damage reflected back to the attacker on a perfect parry
"reflectRangedAttacks": whether arrows and projectiles can be parried/reflected

General: Counterattack

"counterattackWindowMs": window of time after a perfect parry that triggers a counterattack
"counterattackDamageMultiplier": damage multiplier for counterattacks

PvE: NPC

"enableNpcParry": allow NPCs to parry the player

PvE: Entity Stamina

"enableEntityStamina": enable the Entity Stamina System
"enableStaminaDisplay": show entities' stamina bars on the HUD
"staggerDurationSeconds": how long an entity is staggered after a parry
"stunDurationSeconds": how long an entity is stunned once stamina reaches 0
"stunnedDamageMultiplier": damage multiplier against stunned/critical-window enemies

PvE: Parry Effects

"enableParryEffects": enable selectable parry effects in PvE
"parryEffectThreshold": consecutive parries needed to trigger your chosen PvE effect

PvP: Parry

"enablePvPParrySystem": enable parry mechanics between players
"enableSuperKnockback": bigger knockback when a player parries another player
