ZChat

Your WoW whispers, reimagined as a Discord-style messenger.

ZChat turns every whisper into a clean chat window that looks and feels like Discord: your messages on the left, theirs on the right, avatars, class-coloured names, grouped messages, reactions and replies. It also adds themes, animated class effects, per-contact sounds and a floating quick-whisper bar.

💬 Discord-style chat

• Flat message rows with class avatars, class-coloured names and timestamps
• Consecutive messages are grouped; hover to highlight and see the time
• Hover action bar on every message: react, reply or copy
• Replies show the quoted message above the name, just like Discord
• "Name is typing..." indicator and a "Jump to present" bar when you scroll up
• Message box reads "Message @Name", or "#Group" in group chats
• Raid target icons like {rt3} or {skull} are shown as icons

🎨 Themes & animated effects

• Discord theme by default, plus several extra colour themes
• Custom theme: pick a base theme, an accent colour and your own image
• 17 animated effects, most of them inspired by WoW classes: Warrior embers, Paladin holy light, Hunter volley, Rogue poison & smoke, Priest feathers, Shaman storm, Mage frost / arcane / fire, Warlock fel fire, Death Knight runes, Druid leaves, Monk mist, Demon Hunter fel, Evoker essence, hearts and more
• Effects stay behind your messages and only run while the window is open

🔔 Sounds & notifications

• 46 built-in sounds plus any sound registered by other addons (LibSharedMedia)
• Per-contact sounds: give each friend their own notification sound
• Your own sounds: drop .ogg / .mp3 files into the addon and name them in game
• Click a message notification to open that chat directly

⚡ Quick whisper bar

• Right-click a player and choose Whisper: a floating bar opens instead of the default whisper box
• Drag it anywhere, and it stays there
• Works with Midnight's new Whisper menu, even for names with accents

🎵 Adding your own sounds

1. Copy a .ogg or .mp3 file into Interface\AddOns\ZChat\Media\Sounds
2. Name it with a number from 1 to 20: 1.ogg, 2.mp3...
3. Restart the game completely (a /reload does not detect new files)
4. Rename it in game: Options > Notifications > Rename my sounds

🖼️ Creating your own theme

1. Put a PNG into Interface\AddOns\ZChat\Media\Themes named 1.png ... 10.png (square, e.g. 512x512; a transparent background shows only the character)
2. Restart the game completely
3. Options > Appearance > Theme preset: Custom, then choose the base theme, colour, image and opacity
