WhisperLink

WhisperLink is a lightweight private-message companion for World of Warcraft Retail that turns WoW and Battle.net whispers into a dedicated messenger-style experience.

Instead of managing private conversations through temporary chat tabs, WhisperLink keeps them together in one separate window and stores the conversation history account-wide. This means you can continue the same conversation regardless of which of your characters you are currently playing.

Private conversations in one place

WhisperLink provides a dedicated interface for private messages without replacing the rest of the World of Warcraft chat system.

Messaging features

WhisperLink supports the familiar functionality expected from World of Warcraft chat while keeping everything inside the dedicated private-message window.

Failed messages and offline players

If a message cannot be delivered because the other player is offline, WhisperLink keeps the attempted message visible in the conversation instead of simply discarding it.

The message is marked as not sent and provides a retry action so you can try sending it again later.

Notification sounds

Choose how WhisperLink should notify you when a new private message arrives.

Conversation history

WhisperLink stores conversations locally and account-wide, allowing the same private-message history to be accessed from all of your characters.

Designed for the current WoW interface

WhisperLink is built for the current World of Warcraft Retail chat environment and includes handling for modern chat restrictions and Secret Values where required.

The addon uses a native Blizzard-style interface by default.

EllesmereUI support

If EllesmereUI is installed, WhisperLink can automatically integrate with its skinning system.

This allows the WhisperLink interface to follow the user's EllesmereUI styling, including compatible interface colors, fonts and controls, while remaining fully usable without EllesmereUI.

Data & Privacy

Conversation history is stored locally in the account-wide WhisperLinkDB SavedVariables file.

WhisperLink only provides an alternative interface for World of Warcraft and Battle.net private messages. It does not operate its own messaging service or relay messages through third-party servers. Stored chat history remains local, and messages are sent only to the intended conversation partner through Blizzard's existing chat systems when you explicitly send them.
