Ultimate Guild Roster - Guild Roster Management, Shared Across Your Guild
Ultimate Guild Roster (UGR) is a new guild-management add-on, written from scratch, for officers and members who want one shared picture of their guild: who is in it, who belongs to whom, what has happened, and who is not welcome back. It is aimed at guilds that use Guild Roster Manager today.
UGR is in early development and has not been released yet. This page describes the foundation that exists now and, clearly marked, the features that are planned. Nothing marked planned is in the add-on yet.
The Problem
The game's own guild window shows who is in the guild right now and very little else. It does not remember when someone joined, which characters belong to the same player, why a player was removed, or who was promoted last week. Officers end up keeping that knowledge in spreadsheets, in Discord pins, or in their heads, and each officer's copy drifts from everyone else's.
Roster add-ons fill that gap, but every officer's data lives on their own computer. When two officers keep notes on the same guild, their records disagree, and the guild has no single answer.
The Solution
UGR keeps its guild records in one shared dataset that every member running UGR holds a copy of. When one officer records something, it reaches the others; when someone logs in, their copy catches up with the guild's. Each record carries a fingerprint and a timestamp from the moment it was saved, so every copy in the guild agrees on which version is newest and nothing is sent twice.
The guild roster itself is read from the GuildRoster add-on, which already tracks your guild's members and keeps them current, so UGR does not run a second, competing roster scan.
Core Features
Available now (pre-release)
- Main window — a resizable window with six tabs: Roster, Log, Alts, Bans, Sync and Settings. It remembers its size, position and the last tab you used, the same on all your characters
- The same layout on every tab — a row of buttons across the top and a striped, sortable list below it. A button that is not ready yet is greyed out, and its tooltip says why
- Roster tab — shows how many guild members UGR can see, updating as people join, leave, log in and out or change rank
- Sync tab — lists what UGR is sharing with your guildmates and when each item was saved
- Guild sync connection — at login UGR tells the guild what it holds and catches up from any guildmate whose copy is newer. Only members of your guild are trusted as sync partners, and nothing is sent when you are not in a guild
- Minimap button — left-click opens or closes the window, right-click opens the settings. It can be hidden in the settings
- Key binding — bind a key to open and close the window (Esc → Options → Keybindings → Ultimate Guild Roster)
- Settings page in the game's own options (Esc → Options → AddOns → Ultimate Guild Roster), with the minimap switch, the guild window's Members tab switch, and a UI language override
- Language override, live — show UGR in a different language from your game, and the window and settings relabel at once, with no reload. Only English text exists so far; translations are planned
Planned
- Full roster list (planned) — every member on the Roster tab with rank, level, class, notes and when they were last online, sortable and searchable
- Member history (planned) — when each member joined, rejoined or left, and their rank history, kept and shared across the guild
- Guild log (planned) — a running record of joins, departures, promotions, demotions and removals on the Log tab
- Alts (planned) — link a player's characters together under their main, shared with the guild, so the roster can show a player rather than a pile of characters
- Bans (planned) — a guild ban list with the reason and who added it, shared with every officer, and a warning when a banned player is in the guild
- Officer housekeeping tools (planned) — rules that suggest who to promote, demote or remove (for example after long inactivity or time at a rank), with the officer confirming each action
- Translations (planned) — more languages, using the same live language switch
Every Version of the Game
- One download for every version — Classic Era, TBC / Anniversary, MoP Classic, Retail and the WoW Forever beta. The game picks the right setup for itself
How It Works
Roster
- At login — the GuildRoster add-on reads your guild once and keeps it current from then on
- As the guild changes — each join, departure, rank change, login or logout is passed to UGR, and the open window redraws
Sync
- Saving — when a record is saved, UGR stamps it with the time and a fingerprint of its contents, once, on the computer of the person who saved it
- At login — UGR tells the guild the fingerprint of every record it holds. A guildmate whose fingerprint differs offers their copy
- Receiving — a copy that arrives is kept exactly as its author saved it, if it is at least as new as the one you hold
- Quietly — everything travels on the game's hidden add-on channel, queued so messages never arrive jumbled. Nothing appears in your chat
