TheName — Chinese Pinyin Tooltips & NPC Lore Reader

OVERVIEW
TheName is a quality-of-life addon for Chinese-speaking players on Classic realms. It shows the pinyin (romanized pronunciation with tone marks) of Chinese names directly inside game tooltips, and ships an immersive in-game story reader covering 898 NPCs (4,146 NPC entries) with full Chinese translations.

FEATURES

1. Hover Pinyin Pronunciation
Hover your mouse over almost anything with a Chinese name and TheName adds its pinyin right under the name line:
- Players: hover a player character — see "拼音: ténɡ yuán nǎi chá" under their name. Never mispronounce your guildmates' names again.
- NPCs and monsters: quest givers, vendors, raid bosses, pets.
- Gathering nodes: mineral veins and herbs (e.g. 萨隆邪铁矿脉 → sà lóng xié tiě kuàng mài).
- Spells and buffs: action bar buttons, spellbook, buff/debuff icons.
- Items: bags, character sheet, chat links.
Each category has its own on/off checkbox in the settings panel. Pinyin color is fully customizable. The tooltip layout is never disturbed: TheName inserts text inside the tooltip's existing title line, so gem socket icons, item level lines added by other addons (NDui, RatingBuster-style tools), and set-bonus lists all stay exactly where they were.

2. Immersive NPC Lore Reader
Target or mouse over an NPC and press your keybind (default Shift+Enter) to open a full-screen reading panel: the NPC's 3D model on the left, and its story on the right — a short bio plus per-expansion chapters (Classic through The War Within), fully translated into Chinese. The story text is paged like a book with arrow buttons and mouse wheel, rendered with a typewriter effect. Works on friendly, neutral, and hostile NPCs, including dungeon and raid bosses. 898 characters are covered, from Thrall and Jaina to obscure quest givers.
A preview button in the settings panel lets you see the reader without hunting down an NPC.

3. Raid/Combat Aware
Pinyin can auto-hide in raid instances (on by default) and during combat (optional), keeping your tooltips clean when it matters.

SETTINGS & COMMANDS
- /tn — open the settings panel (also under Options → AddOns → TheName)
- /tn lore or /tnlore — open the lore reader for your current target
- Keybind for the lore reader is configurable in the settings panel
- 9 feature toggles: players / NPCs & monsters / gathering nodes / spells & auras / items / misc tooltips / lore module / hide in raid / hide in combat

COMPATIBILITY
Works on Classic Era, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, and Mists of Pandaria Classic. Supports both the modern Settings panel and the legacy Interface Options panel.

DATA & CREDITS
- Pinyin data generated from the open-source pypinyin library (most common reading is used for polyphonic characters).
- NPC lore is compiled from public community sources (NPCodex / Wowpedia, CC BY-SA) and manually translated into Chinese by the author. If you spot a mistranslation, please report it.

Known limitation: pinyin shows the most common pronunciation for multi-pronunciation characters, so a few unusual names may be slightly off.
