SmartAssist

Never edit your Misdirection, Tricks of the Trade or Power Infusion macro again.

SmartAssist builds the macro for you and keeps it pointed at the right player. Join a group and it switches to your tank on its own. Want someone else? Hover the minimap button and pick them in one click.

SmartAssist was called Mark of the Tank (MOTT). It now covers Power Infusion as well, so it got a name that fits. See "Coming from Mark of the Tank" below.

What It Does

• Builds the macro for you: one macro for your spell, with the spell's icon, created the first time you log in
• Keeps it up to date: changes the target inside the macro whenever you pick someone new, so you never open the macro window
• Finds your tank: when you join a group, or the group changes, the macro points at the tank
• One-click target menu: hover the minimap button to switch to your tank, target, target of target, focus or pet
• Never wastes the cast: if the chosen player isn't there or is dead, it falls back to your pet (Hunters) and then to a normal cast
• Reminds you when it matters: load into a zone with your group and no target set, and the menu pops up on its own
• Safe in combat: changes you make during combat are applied the moment combat ends
• Tells you if the spell is missing: if you aren't talented into the spell, the menu says so instead of building a macro that does nothing

Supported Classes

🏹 Hunter: Misdirection

• Points at the tank in groups
• Goes back to your pet when you leave the group
• Remembers your pet's name

🗡️ Rogue: Tricks of the Trade

• Points at the tank in groups
• Starts out pointed at your focus
• Every targeting option in the menu works

✨ Priest: Power Infusion

• Power Infusion goes on a damage dealer, not the tank, so there's no automatic tank switching
• Target a player and choose Save Target's Name to lock the macro onto them
• Or set it to your target, target of target or focus

How Your Tank Is Found

1. A player marked as Main Tank in a raid comes first
2. Otherwise, the player in the Tank role
3. Otherwise, the tank-capable player with the most health

Pick Your Look

Click the sliders button in the top corner of the menu or the settings window to switch between three looks. Your choice is saved for each character.

• Workbench: flat and modern, charcoal with a green accent
• Artisan's Ledger: warm walnut and brass, like a craftsman's notebook
• Lixard Classic: clean black, grey and gold, with your class color as the accent

How to Use It

1. Install it and log in on your Hunter, Rogue or Priest.
2. Open your macros (/macro) and drag the new macro onto your action bar.
3. Join a group. The macro now points at your tank.

SmartAssist needs one free general macro slot.

Minimap Button

Settings

• Macro name: rename the macro. Your action bar button keeps working.
• Auto-set tank when joining group (Hunter and Rogue)
• Auto-set pet when leaving group (Hunter)
• Show minimap button

Commands

Coming from Mark of the Tank

• The command is now /smartassist (it used to be /mott).
• Your settings start fresh. The settings are saved under the addon's name, so they can't carry across the rename. Your macro keeps its name, so the button on your action bar keeps working.
• If a MOTT folder is still in your AddOns folder after updating, delete it. Running both at once makes them fight over the same macro.
