Description
Skyborne Tooltip
Skyborne Tooltip is a lightweight tooltip addon for World of Warcraft: Forever that cleans up how the new Skyborne race is displayed when you hover over a player character.
The problem it solves
By default, the unit tooltip for a Skyborne player shows a long, compound race name that includes a faction-specific sub-race (such as "High Order" for the Alliance or "Windshaper" for the Horde), and the faction name is added on a separate line as well. In practice, this makes the tooltip longer and cluttered, and it repeats information you can already see from the nameplate, the unit frame colors, and the game itself.
Features
- Removes the sub-race from the tooltip. The entire "race – sub-race" block is replaced with a single, short race name, so you always see the same clean label no matter which faction the player belongs to.
- Locale-aware naming.
- Russian client: the race is shown as "Skyborne".
- English client: the "High Order" and "Windshaper" prefixes are removed, leaving Skyborne.
- Other languages: the addon takes the race name your client provides and strips the sub-race that follows the dash, so the official localized race name is preserved and nothing is hardcoded.
- Optional faction line removal. The extra "Horde" / "Alliance" line is hidden by default to make the tooltip more compact. You can turn this off with one setting.
- Only affects Skyborne players. Tooltips of all other races, NPCs, and objects are left completely untouched.
- Safe for the Midnight-based UI. The addon respects the restrictions of the modern addon API (secret values) and wraps its logic in protected calls, so it will not throw errors or interfere with combat.
- Built-in debug command. Typing
/sbtwith a player targeted prints the client language, the race name, race token, race ID, and the current tooltip lines, which makes it easy to report problems or adjust the addon for another locale.
How it improves your experience
- Shorter, easier-to-read tooltips. Less text means you find the information you care about (name, level, class) faster.
- Consistent presentation. Every Skyborne player is labeled the same way, regardless of faction.
- Less visual noise. Redundant faction and sub-race text is gone, so the tooltip fits better with the rest of your interface.
- Zero setup for most players. Install it and it works. There are no menus, no configuration screens, and no performance cost, since it only runs when a tooltip for a player is shown.
