# Changelog - RuneTorch

## v1.9.6
- Added WoW Retail 12.1.5 compatibility metadata while retaining existing font settings and performance improvements.

## v1.9.5
- Reduced redundant font updates by skipping font objects that already have the requested font, size, and outline.
- Avoided scanning hidden Auction House and Crafting Order lists until they are needed.
- Reduced overlapping font refreshes around login and loading screens while preserving saved font selections.
- Added `/rt perf` and optional `/rt trace` diagnostics for investigating post-loading frame gaps. Tracing is disabled by default; a frame gap does not identify which addon or system caused it.

## v1.9.4
- Added explicit coverage for Mar'nah's customer-side Crafting Orders browse, category, current-listings, and My Orders lists.
- Re-applies the list font after Mar'nah's recycled ScrollBox rows update following searches and category changes.
- Fixed Crafting Order recipe-list rows missing the saved `AH / CRAFT LIST` font until the Auction House triggered a later global refresh.
- Re-discovers and reapplies fonts during a short bounded window after Crafting Order list creation and updates; no permanent polling is used.
- Fixed scoped font selection persistence so `AH / CRAFT LIST` and the other scope buttons retain both their selected font and the active scope after Reload UI.
- Made each font-row click save against the currently selected scope in SavedVariables, avoiding stale row state after selector redraws.
- Defined `Noto Sans JP (SemiBold)` as the BASIC fallback when the saved BASIC value is missing or empty; scopes without an override continue to inherit BASIC.

## v1.9.3
- Fixed Japanese macro names on Blizzard action bars, Bartender4, and Dominos so they use the BASIC font instead of a Latin-only action-button font.
- Preserved each action bar's existing macro text size and outline style.
- Fixed mixed fonts in Crafting Order and Auction House lists by applying the selected list font after each recycled row finishes loading.

## v1.9.2
- Clarified in the settings panel, tooltips, and user guides that BASIC and all per-surface font selections are account-wide and shared by every character on the same WoW account.
- Kept character-specific font profiles out of this release while future demand is evaluated.
- Replaced the outdated Japanese stability-policy explanation with the actual font priority and BASIC inheritance rules.
- Updated the addon description to explain scoped priority, shared scale and outline settings, and account-wide behavior instead of the old stability-policy wording.
- Made untouched scoped selectors visibly start with no font selected while continuing to inherit BASIC; an explicit override is marked with `*` and shown in the tooltip.

## v1.9.1
- Made scoped font selections override the BASIC font consistently.
- Combined Auction House and Crafting Order list font selection into one `AH / CRAFT LIST` scope.
- Changed the character-name scope to `WORLD NAMES`, targeting character names displayed above units rather than names inside unit frames.
- Re-applies `WORLD NAMES` to newly shown nameplates and after nameplate addons reset their shared fonts.
- Applies `WORLD NAMES` to the engine-rendered floating names through `UNIT_NAME_FONT` during login; this part requires a full logout and login rather than only UI reload.
- Marks the selector as `WORLD NAMES (RELOG)` and shows the relog requirement in its tooltip and chat notice.
- Renamed the bottom action to `CONFIRM & RELOAD UI` so it is not confused with a character relog.
- Removed the retired Auction House and Crafting Order list enable/disable checkboxes.

## v1.9.0
- Added independent font selection scopes for the basic UI, the player's character name, chat/Say bubbles, Auction House lists, and Crafting Order lists.
- Scoped font buttons appear directly below the font selector. Right-click a scoped button to make it inherit the BASIC font again.
- Kept the Auction House and Crafting Order list enable/disable switches independent from their selected font faces.
- Moved the Japanese preview switch below the new scope selector.

## v1.8.2
- Applied the selected font to dynamically generated Auction House list rows.
- Applied the selected font directly to visible crafter and customer Crafting Order rows, including rows held inside the ScrollBox recycle pool.
- Added separate Auction House list and Crafting Order list toggles to RuneTorch's settings.
- Applied RuneTorch's selected font to ChatCopyPaste's copy field after that addon resets it, including Japanese IME composition text shown inside the field.
- Fixed the Guild & Communities (J key) chat history and input box so they use RuneTorch's selected font after the window is loaded or reopened.
- Updated WoW 12.1 guild/community event handling so RuneTorch no longer inspects protected Discord message fields.
- Ordinary guild/community messages are no longer classified as Discord-originated merely because they use the club chat backend.
- Fixed silent `SetFont` failures being recorded as successful applications, which could leave a Blizzard fallback font active and display Japanese as boxes.

## v1.8.1
- Improved Japanese font handling for Discord-connected guild chat in WoW 12.1.
- Added `/rt debug` information that distinguishes a font problem from Discord text that WoW does not expose to addons.
- Added an in-game notice when a Discord message cannot be restored by a font addon.

## v1.8.0
- **New**: Supports WoW 12.1 (Interface 120100).
- **Fixed**: Chat bubbles now use the selected font. They were left on the client default, so Japanese speech bubbles rendered in a mismatched (often Chinese) fallback face even while the chat frame itself looked correct.
- **Changed**: The Japanese font fallback is no longer permanent for the session. When the selected font fails to load, RuneTorch substitutes a bundled Japanese font *and keeps retrying the original* (after 5s, 15s, 45s and 2 minutes), switching back with a notice as soon as it loads. The failure appears to be a transient client-side load miss right after a loading screen, so a single miss no longer costs you your chosen font for the whole session.

### Known issue
- A small number of players on English clients with Japanese text still report boxes instead of Japanese characters. We have not been able to reproduce it reliably. If this happens to you, run `/rt debug` and send us the output - it shows which font file is actually applied to each chat window.

## v1.7.9
- **Fixed**: Fonts are now applied to every chat window, including temporary windows (whisper tabs, pet battle log) created after login. These windows previously kept the client default font, so Japanese chat text randomly rendered as tofu boxes on Western clients.
- **Fixed**: Fonts are re-applied after loading screens and when chat windows are created or reset, instead of only once at login.
- **Fixed**: Re-applying fonts no longer overrides chat font size changes made through Blizzard's chat settings.
- **New**: `/rt debug` prints which font file is actually applied to each chat window (tagged RuneTorch/EXTERNAL), for diagnosing garbled-text reports caused by addon conflicts or font loading failures.
- **New**: `/rt apply` immediately re-applies the selected font to all managed UI elements without a reload.
- **New**: Warns in chat when the selected font file fails to load in the client (missing/corrupted file or engine-side load failure), instead of silently rendering tofu boxes.
- **New**: When the selected Japanese font fails to load, RuneTorch now automatically falls back to another bundled Japanese font for the rest of the session so Japanese chat stays readable.

## v1.7.8
- **Stability**: Removed automatic runtime font rewriting for MRT Note, EllesmereUI Quest Tracker, and Objective Tracker private frames.
- **Stability**: Hardened font lookup, saved scale/outline validation, and font application fallbacks to reduce crash risk from invalid or unavailable font entries.

## v1.7.7
- **Fixed**: MRT Note now keeps its selected font when RuneTorch updates UI fonts.
- **Fixed**: Improved MRT Note text appearance after font updates.

## v1.7.6
- **Fixed**: Syncs RuneTorch's selected Japanese font into EllesmereUI Quest Tracker's runtime font setting so EllesmereUI's own 12.0.7 font refresh path no longer restores a Latin-only font over Japanese objective text.
- **Improved**: Passes the CurseForge project ID directly to the GitHub Actions packager in addition to TOC metadata.

## v1.7.5
- **Fixed**: Re-applies RuneTorch-managed fonts to Blizzard/EllesmereUI objective tracker FontStrings so Japanese quest objective text no longer renders as tofu boxes after EllesmereUI restyles the tracker.
- **Improved**: Confirmed Retail TOC compatibility for WoW 12.0.7 and added CurseForge project metadata for automated packaging.

## v1.7.4
- **Improved**: Overhauled and simplified the Japanese User Guide and README documentation.

## v1.7.3
- **Fixed**: Force-applies RuneTorch-managed Japanese fonts to Method Raid Tools (MRT) Note display frames so Japanese note text no longer remains tofu boxes after changing fonts.

## v1.7.2
- **Fixed**: Improved Japanese text display in MethodRaid Tools (MRT) Note function.
- **Improved**: Standardized TOC file naming conventions for all Classic versions.
  - Retail: `RuneTorch.toc`
  - World of Warcraft Classic: `RuneTorch_Vanilla.toc`
  - Burning Crusade Anniversary: `RuneTorch_TBC.toc`
  - Mists of Pandaria Classic: `RuneTorch_Mists.toc`

## v1.7.1
- **Improved**: Documentation headers updated to reflect the new brand name.

## v1.7.0
- **New**: Official cross-client support for WoW Classic (Vanilla/SoD, Burning Crusade Anniversary, and MoP Classic).
- **New**: Added localized Japanese User Guide documenting the synergy with WoWJP and font fallback mechanisms.
- **Improved**: Complete documentation overhaul for global CurseForge release.
- **Improved**: Reorganized `CustomFonts.lua` for easier custom font integration.
- **Improved**: Refined heuristical Japanese font detection system.

## v1.6.4
- Initial internal release for testing the global font override system.
