What's new

RotationPilot 0.23.7: Buff everyone, now for everyone

One key. Stand in a city, at a flight point or at a summoning stone, press it, and each press is a courtesy buff for the next person around you. Your group first, then the passers-by.

Passers-by

Every friendly player in view through a nameplate joins the queue after your group, nearest first, for the buff of yours they lack. Each press buffs one person; keep pressing until the icon goes. One courtesy buff per person. Once a cast has gone out to someone they are left alone for 30 minutes, so the queue only moves forward through the crowd. When the list is done the addon keeps looking, and the icon comes back as new faces arrive. People on your grudge list are left out. Only people the game says are in range are queued (or, when it cannot say, within 28 yards). When the game refuses a cast (not in line of sight, out of range, too low a level for the buff) that person is passed over and the next one comes up at once: for 45 seconds when it is about where they stand, for 30 minutes when it is their level.

How it works, and what it does not do

The game will not take a nameplate as a cast target, so for a passer-by the press runs a short macro: target them by exact name (first name and surname on Forever, name and realm elsewhere), cast if they are a living friend, then put your previous target back, or clear it if you had none. Yourself and your group are cast on directly and your target is never touched. Every cast is still your own key press. One press, one buff, one person. The addon never casts on its own. The game only shows friendly player nameplates when its own setting is on. By default the addon switches that setting on while the queue is in use and puts it back when the icon goes. /rp buffall plates leaves the setting alone; /rp buffall plates toggle flips it by hand. Unlike the buff reminders, the icon stays while resting in a city or inn, because that is where the people are. /rp buffall rest hides it there.

Commands and settings

/rp buffall shows the queue, whether friendly nameplates are on, and an “Underneath” line with what the button holds, whether that person is still there and in range, how many presses, how many buffed and passed over, and what the game said after the last press. Paste it if something does not work. /rp buffall strangers switches back to group only. Three new checkboxes under Buff everyone in the options panel: Passers-by too, In cities and inns too, Borrow friendly nameplates.

Also in this build

Aura reads on nameplate units are guarded, so a restricted map cannot throw an error. Presses are counted once (key down and key up were counted as two).

Tested on WoW: Forever.
