RocketMeter

A clean, easy-to-set-up damage meter built on Blizzard's official damage meter API, with an end-of-run scoreboard for Mythic+ and raids.

Rocket Meter

A clean damage meter for World of Warcraft: Midnight, built on Blizzard's official damage meter API. It looks good the moment you install it, and a few clicks set it up.

Why Rocket Meter?

In Midnight, Blizzard removed the combat log event that damage meters used to parse and gave every addon the same data source instead: the official C_DamageMeter API. Every meter now reads the same numbers. What separates them is how clearly they show those numbers and how easy they are to set up.

Rocket Meter is built around that:

  • One window, many columns. You don't need a second window for healing and a third for interrupts. Each metric is a column you switch on or off, all side by side.
  • Looks like the game. It uses the same header art as Blizzard's built-in meter, with flat class-colored rows and no skin to configure.
  • Sizes itself to your group. Solo it shows one row, and in a five-player group it shows five. No empty rows waiting for players.

Features

Columns

Pick any combination of these metrics:

Column What it shows
Dmg / DPS / Dmg% Total damage, damage per second, share of the group's damage
Heal / HPS / Heal% Total healing, healing per second, share of the group's healing
Absorb Absorbs
Taken / TPS Damage taken, and damage taken per second
Avoid Avoidable damage taken
Interr Interrupts
Dispel Dispels
Deaths Player deaths
Enemies Damage done to enemies

Total and per-second values are separate columns. Turn on DPS alone if you only care about throughput, or turn on both total and DPS.

Presets switch every column with one click: Mythic+, Raid and Damage only.

Sorting and arranging

  • Click a column header to sort by it. Click again to reverse the order.
  • Shift+click a header to move the column left, Ctrl+click to move it right.
  • The column panel (gear icon) lists every metric with a checkbox and arrows to reorder it. Changes show up in the window right away, with no "Apply" button.

Current fight or the whole run

The header shows which session is on screen: Current fight or Overall. Click it to switch between them. By default the window follows combat: it shows the current fight while you're in combat and goes back to Overall when combat ends. You can turn this off.

Spell breakdown

Click a player's row to open a panel with what that player did, spell by spell, with icon, total, per-second value and percentage. It has three sections: Damage, Healing (including absorbs) and Control (interrupts and dispels). It's a panel, not a tooltip, so it stays open while you read.

End-of-run scoreboard

When a Mythic+ key ends or a raid boss dies, a scoreboard opens with the whole group and every metric at once. It lists damage, healing, interrupts, dispels, damage taken, avoidable damage and deaths, together with item level, Mythic+ score and loot. The title shows the dungeon and key level (or the boss), the run time, and whether the key was timed.

  • Mythic+ uses the whole run. Raid uses the encounter that just ended.
  • Opening it automatically can be turned off separately for Mythic+ and for raids.
  • Reopen it any time with /rm score (/rm score mplus, /rm score raid).

Appearance

  • Font, text size (10–20), outline (none / thin / thick) and shadow, set separately for each kind of text in the window
  • Number of rows, space between columns and width of the total columns
  • Out of combat, the top value in each column is highlighted
  • Specialization icons, class colors, resizable window, lock/unlock

Also included

  • Minimap button. Click to show or hide the meter, Shift+click for the last scoreboard, right-click for options. You can hide it.
  • Account-wide or per-character settings. When you switch a character to its own settings, it starts with a copy of your current setup.
  • English and Brazilian Portuguese. Metric names the game already translates come from the game itself.

About combat and Blizzard's "secret values"

In Midnight, combat data is protected while you're in combat. Addons can display it but can't compare, add up or cross-reference it. Rocket Meter follows these rules instead of working around them:

Situation What you see
Out of combat Every column for every player
In combat, your own row Every column
In combat, other players The sorted column. The others show - until combat ends

This comes from the API itself. The ranking of the sorted column is always live for everyone, and the rest of the table fills in as soon as combat ends. The spell breakdown works the same way: in combat it works for your own row, and after combat it works for everyone.

Commands

Commands are always in English, whatever your client language, so a command copied from a guide works anywhere.

/rm open or close the window
/rm columns open the column panel
/rm col [n] list the columns, or toggle one
/rm move <n> left|right move a column
/rm preset mplus|raid|damage switch the column preset
/rm score [mplus|raid] open the last scoreboard
/rm overall switch between current fight and overall
/rm profile char|account|reset account-wide or per-character settings
/rm reset clear the sessions
/rm config open the options
/rm help list every command

Feedback

Found a bug or have an idea? Please open an issue on GitHub. If you report a bug, running /rm log right after it happens records a diagnostic snapshot that makes it much easier to find.
