Description
Stop casting Rank 4 when you know Rank 5
You train a new rank, but your action bar still holds the old one. Nothing in the game tells you, so you keep casting the weaker version for days.
Rankle compares every cast with the highest rank in your spellbook. If you cast a lower rank, it tells you in chat:
Rankle: downranked Frostbolt -- cast Rank 3, Rank 4 available
It also checks your action bars when you learn a new rank. If the old rank is still on your bars, you'll hear about it before you ever cast it.
Features
- No setup. It reads your spellbook and starts checking your casts.
- Finds old ranks on your bars. Rankle checks your bars at login, after you learn a new rank, and whenever you click the scan button. It also looks inside macros.
- Ignore any spell or rank. If you downrank a heal on purpose, ignore just that rank and keep the warnings for the others. You can also ignore every rank of a spell.
- Recent downranks. The menu lists every downrank from this session, with a one-click Ignore button for each.
- Won't spam you. Each spell warns once, then goes quiet for a while. You set how long.
- Optional warning sound, and you can mute the login message.
- Stays off when it has nothing to check. Rankle goes dormant on a client without spell ranks.
The menu
Type /rankle, or click Rankle in the addons button by the minimap. From the menu you can:
- Turn warnings, the sound, the bar check after training and the login message on or off
- Set how long before the same spell can warn again
- Look through your ignore list and remove entries
- Add a spell to the ignore list. Type a few letters and press Tab to complete the name from your spellbook. Enter a rank to ignore only that rank, or leave it blank to ignore every rank.
- See recent downranks and ignore one with a click
- Scan your action bars, test the warning, or save your settings

Keeping your settings on the beta
The current beta client saves settings when you log out but doesn't load them back when you log in. To keep your settings, set things up in the menu and click Save settings.... Copy the text, paste it over everything in Settings.lua in the Rankle folder, then restart the client.
If a later build loads saved settings properly, those take priority and Settings.lua becomes a fallback.
