QuickMisdirection

One-button Misdirection / Tricks of the Trade that always targets your group's tank. The addon creates the macro, puts it on your bar and keeps it up to date by itself.

QuickMisdirection

One button. Always the right tank.

QuickMisdirection builds and maintains a single macro that casts Misdirection (Hunter) or Tricks of the Trade (Rogue) on your group's tank. No focus to set, no name to type, no macro to edit between dungeons.

What it does

Creates the macro for you. On login the addon creates a macro named QuickMD and drops it on the first free action bar slot. Bind it and you are done. Finds the tank automatically. Every time someone joins, leaves or changes role, the macro is rewritten to point at the current tank (up to two tanks in a raid). Works in combat. The macro itself is a normal secure macro, so it fires in and out of combat. If a tank dies, it falls through to the next one. Smart when you are solo. Alone, the macro targets your pet first. Pet warning (Hunter). Solo with no pet out, or with a dead pet? You get an on-screen warning and a sound, with sensible anti-spam rules (nothing while mounted, in a rest area, etc.). Manual override always available. Mouseover and focus come first in the group macro, so you can still pick a specific player when you want to. Localized spell names. The spell name is read from your client, so the macro works in any game language.

Target priority

Situation Order In a group or raid mouseover → focus → tank 1 → tank 2 → pet Solo pet → mouseover → focus

Each step can be switched off in the options.

Settings window

Type /quickmd or /qmd, or use the addon compartment button near the minimap.

Macros: create or refresh the macro, place it on a bar, delete it. Tests: run a detection test (mode, tanks found, pet state, and who would receive the spell right now), trigger a test alert, display the current macro text. Options: automatic management, automatic bar placement, pet first when solo, mouseover, focus, pet alert, alert sound, chat messages. Saved per character.

Good to know

Blizzard does not allow addons to change macros during combat. If your group changes mid-fight, the update is queued and applied as soon as combat ends. Since patch 12.1, group roles can be hidden from addons during instanced combat, boss encounters and Mythic+ runs. QuickMisdirection detects this, keeps the last valid macro, and refreshes as soon as the information is available again. Roles are read when you zone in, before the first pull. In 5-player groups the macro targets the tank's party slot (for example party2), which also works with follower dungeon NPCs and cross-realm players. The addon never casts anything by itself and makes no combat decisions: it only writes a macro that you press.

Supported classes

Hunter (Misdirection) and Rogue (Tricks of the Trade). The addon stays idle on other classes.
