# CC Alert – PvP Crowd Control & PvE Cast Warning

CC Alert is a lightweight combat-awareness addon for World of Warcraft.

It is designed around one simple idea:

**When something dangerous is being cast, you should immediately know what it is, who is casting it, and who is in danger.**

CC Alert provides two specialized detection systems:

⚔️ **PvP Mode** — incoming crowd control on you or your healer  
🛡️ **PvE Mode** — important hostile NPC casts, regardless of their target

It can display a clear warning on your screen and highlight the actual enemy caster directly on their nameplate.

No extra unit frames.

# ⚔️ PvP Mode — Incoming Crowd Control

CC Alert was originally built for PvP.

In Arena, Solo Shuffle and Battlegrounds, knowing that a CC is coming is useful.

Knowing **who is casting it and whether it is aimed at you or your healer** is much better.

CC Alert detects dangerous incoming crowd-control casts and separates them into two distinct warnings:

## 🔴 CC on You

When an enemy begins casting crowd control on your character, CC Alert displays the **personal warning frame**.

This alert can be positioned independently anywhere on your screen.

## 🟢 CC on Your Healer

When playing DPS, CC Alert can also warn you when dangerous crowd control is being cast on your healer.

The healer warning uses a **separate alert frame**, with its own position.

This means you can instantly distinguish:

🔴 **CC targeting you**

from

🟢 **CC targeting your healer**

without needing to read additional text during combat.

Both frames can be moved independently so you can place them exactly where your eyes naturally look.

# 🎯 Find the Caster Immediately

CC Alert does more than display a spell warning.

It also highlights **the enemy actually casting the spell**.

A highly visible marker can appear directly above the caster's nameplate.

This gives you immediate spatial information:

👁️ Which enemy is casting?  
📍 Where are they?  
🎯 Do I need to line them?  
⚡ Do I need to interrupt, reflect or react?

This is especially useful when:

- several enemies are stacked together
- pets and players overlap
- the caster is behind you
- the caster is not your current target
- the enemy is casting through focus
- multiple players are casting at the same time

Instead of searching through frames and nameplates, CC Alert points you directly toward the threat.

# 🧠 Smart PvP CC Detection

CC Alert is designed around modern World of Warcraft combat restrictions.

Enemy targeting information is not always straightforward, especially with focus casts and protected combat information.

CC Alert uses Blizzard-supported mechanisms to determine when tracked crowd control is threatening you or your healer without attempting to bypass protected information.

The addon also supports different CC implementations.

Some abilities use the same spell ID for both the cast and the resulting control effect.

Others use separate internal spell IDs.

CC Alert handles these cases individually rather than assuming every crowd-control spell behaves the same way.

# 🧪 Test Both PvP Alerts

You do not need to enter an Arena just to configure your UI.

CC Alert includes separate test controls for both PvP warning frames.

You can test:

🔴 **CC on yourself**

and

🟢 **CC on your healer**

independently.

This makes it easy to position both alerts exactly where you want them before combat.

Slash commands are also available:

`/cca testmoi`

Tests the personal CC warning.

`/cca testheal`

Tests the healer CC warning.

# 🛡️ PvE Mode — Important Enemy Casts

CC Alert also includes a dedicated PvE detection mode.

In PvE, the addon monitors hostile NPCs and detects abilities Blizzard marks as important through the game's **Important Spell** system.

Unlike PvP mode, the ability does **not** need to target you.

CC Alert can warn you about an important enemy cast whether it targets:

🛡️ the tank  
❤️ the healer  
⚔️ another DPS  
🐾 a pet  
👥 another friendly unit  
💥 or no specific target at all

The goal is simple:

**Spot dangerous casts quickly and immediately identify which mob is responsible.**

This can be particularly useful in Mythic+, dungeons, raids and large enemy pulls.

# 👹 Track Multiple Enemy Mobs

PvE encounters often involve several enemies casting simultaneously.

CC Alert monitors hostile enemy **nameplates**, allowing it to detect important casts from mobs even when they are not your current target.

It also monitors:

as additional detection sources.

You can continue attacking one enemy while CC Alert warns you about an important cast coming from another mob nearby.

# ➕ Add Your Own Important PvE Spells

Blizzard determines which abilities are marked as important, but CC Alert also allows you to extend the system.

Use:

`/cca add <spellID>`

to manually add a spell you always want the addon to warn you about.

This is useful when:

⚠️ Blizzard does not mark an ability as important  
🆕 a new dungeon or raid introduces dangerous casts  
🎯 you personally want to track a specific mechanic  
💀 a normally minor ability is especially dangerous for your role

# 🚨 Clear Visual Warnings

When a tracked ability is detected, CC Alert can display a large on-screen warning containing the spell icon and alert information.

The warning is deliberately simple.

You should not need to read several lines of combat text while fighting.

In PvP, the separate player and healer frames make the destination of the CC immediately recognizable.

At the same time, the caster can be marked directly on their nameplate.

You immediately know:
