PartyPlayerFrameRemover

Removed own frame from Blizzard's party and raid frames.

Party Player Frame Remover

Removes your own frame from Blizzard's party and raid frames, and closes the gap it leaves, so the frames show the people you are looking after and nothing else. Your health, resources and buffs are already on your player frame; in the party frames that slot is a duplicate of it, and the one frame you never need to watch sits in the middle of the ones you do. This addon takes it out, in combat too, and the teammates below it move up into its place. Requires patch 12.1.

Features

  • Your own frame is gone from the raid-style party frames — a five-man party shows your four teammates, a three-man shows two
  • The gap closes. The frame is collapsed, not just hidden, so the frames after it chain up into its place. The group keeps its shape: no hole where you were, no stray background, no half-height block of empty space
  • The same in raid frames, whether the groups are separate or combined into one block, and in battleground raids
  • Vertical and horizontal party and raid groups are both handled, and so is each one's orientation changing in Edit Mode
  • It holds in combat. The work is done in secure snippets the game runs itself, so your frame stays hidden through a pull, a death, a resurrection, a battleground start, and people joining and leaving the group mid-fight
  • Vehicles and turrets: when your frame switches to the vehicle you are driving, it stays hidden
  • Edit Mode still works. The preview frames Blizzard fills empty slots with stay visible while you are moving, scaling and sorting your frames, so you can lay the party and raid frames out normally and see what you are doing
  • Pets, tank targets and teammates are left alone — only your own frame is touched, and a teammate's frame is never hidden in its place
  • It works from the moment you enable it, on every character and in every group you join

What changes in play

  • More room, less to scan. Four frames instead of five, closed up. The party block gets shorter (or narrower), and in a raid your group loses a slot, so the frames can sit bigger or tighter in the space you had
  • Group sorting stops moving you around. With Blizzard's group or role sorting your own frame shuffles between positions as the roster changes; with it gone, the frames you do read stay where you expect them
  • Healing clicks land on other people. Mouseover and click-cast binds on the party frames can no longer pick you up by accident in a moment where you meant to heal someone else — heal yourself with your self-cast key or your player frame instead
  • No flicker. Nothing is shown and then hidden a frame later, so the frames do not jump while you are reading them

Requirements

  • Patch 12.1 or newer
  • For the party frames, Blizzard's Raid-Style Party Frames (Edit Mode → Party Frames → Use Raid-Style Party Frames). The small Blizzard party portraits are a different frame and are left as they are. Raid frames need nothing turned on

Installation

  1. Extract to Interface/AddOns/PartyPlayerFrameRemover/
  2. Join a party or raid — your frame is already gone

Notes

  • The game only lets an addon prepare a frame out of combat. A frame the game creates during a fight — joining a raid mid-pull, for instance — shows until that fight ends, and then goes
  • Raid slots shift down when someone leaves the raid. If that happens in combat the addon shows your frame rather than risk hiding a teammate's, and sorts itself out when combat ends
  • With raid groups combined, your collapsed slot still counts toward Blizzard's "frames per column" setting
  • Compatible with Blizzard's party and raid frames. Addons that replace them wholesale (unit frame suites) have their own frames, and their own options for this
