NameDisable – Custom Player, Pet & Minion Name Control
Take control of name visibility in World of Warcraft: Forever.
NameDisable is a lightweight World of Warcraft addon designed to give players greater control over the visibility of player names, pet names, and minion names while exploring cities, sanctuaries, and the wider world.
Whether you want a cleaner screen in crowded capital cities, less visual clutter around busy banks and auction houses, or a more immersive experience while exploring Azeroth, NameDisable provides configurable name suppression with automatic zone detection and convenient manual controls.
The addon includes a dedicated configuration window accessible through a button next to the minimap, allowing you to adjust your preferences without navigating complicated settings menus.
Features
Automatic Name Suppression
NameDisable can automatically suppress names when entering detected cities, sanctuaries, and resting areas. When you leave the detected area, the addon attempts to restore your previous name-display settings.
This helps reduce unnecessary visual clutter in busy social areas while allowing you to retain your preferred name visibility elsewhere.
Player Name Control
Control the visibility of friendly and enemy player names while name suppression is active.
The addon also includes configurable exceptions intended to keep the names of specific players visible, allowing you to distinguish familiar players from the surrounding crowd.
Guild Member Visibility
Enable the option to keep guild members' player names visible while suppressing other player names.
This feature is intended to make it easier to recognise guildmates in crowded cities and social hubs without displaying every nearby player's name.
Friends List Visibility
Prefer to keep your friends identifiable? Enable the friends-list exception to retain their names where supported by the client.
Combined with the guild option, this provides a more personalised name-display experience.
Pet & Minion Name Suppression
NameDisable also attempts to suppress pet, guardian, minion, and supported totem names alongside player names.
This helps reduce additional visual clutter from summoned companions and other units in busy areas.
Manual Enable / Disable
You are not limited to automatic city detection.
Use the configuration window to manually enable or disable name suppression anywhere in the world, including outside cities and sanctuaries.
Manual suppression can be used whenever you prefer a cleaner interface, regardless of your current location.
Convenient Minimap Button
Access NameDisable through its dedicated minimap button.
Click the button to open the configuration window, where you can change your preferences. The button can also be repositioned around the minimap.
Persistent Preferences
Your configuration options are saved between sessions, so you do not need to reconfigure your preferred settings every time you log in.

Designed for WoW: Forever
NameDisable is developed for the WoW: Forever client and is intended to provide a simple, lightweight way to customise name visibility without requiring a complex interface or extensive configuration.
Because name-display settings and nameplate APIs can vary between client versions, some features may behave differently depending on the client build. In particular, guild and friends-list exceptions depend on the availability of compatible nameplate functionality.
Important Compatibility Information
NameDisable works with the name-display settings exposed by the game client. Some nameplates, unit types, and name-display behaviours may be controlled separately by the client, so complete suppression of every possible name display cannot be guaranteed across all circumstances.
Automatic city detection also depends on the zone information exposed by the client. Zones that are not identified as sanctuaries or resting areas may require additional support.
Our Goal
The goal of NameDisable is simple: less visual clutter, more control, and a more personalised World of Warcraft experience.
We welcome feedback, compatibility reports, and suggestions for future improvements.
Enjoy a cleaner Azeroth with NameDisable!
