Mute Buttons puts two small icons on your screen, a speaker and a music note. Click the speaker to mute or unmute all sound, click the note to mute or unmute just the music. The icons change to show whether each one is currently on or off.
I made this because muting the game normally means opening System → Sound and finding the right checkbox, or binding a key and then not being sure if you're muted or not. With this you can just glance at the corner of your screen and click.
What it does
- Speaker icon toggles All Sound (the master switch). Note icon toggles Music only, so you can turn the music off and keep combat and spell sounds.
- The icons always match the real game setting. If you change sound from the options menu, a keybind or a macro, the icons update within a second.
- Three ways to show the muted state: bright/faded with a red slash, white/red with a slash, or green/red with no slash.
- Optional dark square behind each icon, and an optional red border on the square when muted.
- Drag the buttons wherever you want, lock them, and pick horizontal or vertical layout.
- Scale (0.5x to 2x), opacity (10% to 100%) and gap between the icons (0 to 10 px).
- Options panel under Interface → AddOns → MuteButtons. Everything is also available as slash commands:
/muteopens the options,/mute alland/mute musictoggle,/mute lock,/mute scale 1.5,/mute alpha 50,/mute vertical, etc. - No libraries and nothing heavy running in the background. Settings are saved per account.
Compatibility
WoW Forever, Classic Era, TBC/Anniversary, MoP Classic and Retail. It only changes the standard sound settings, nothing that touches gameplay.
