MidnightObjective V2 — Vanguard Edition

MidnightObjective V2 is a modern objective tracker replacement for World of Warcraft Retail: Midnight 12.1, built around the new Vanguard framework.

Vanguard replaces the default objective-tracking experience with a cleaner, more flexible, more informative tracker designed for quests, world content, dungeons, Mythic+, raids, Delves, and battlegrounds — while keeping the interface compact and readable.

Vanguard

Vanguard is the new presentation system at the heart of MidnightObjective V2.

It provides:

When Vanguard is enabled, it replaces Blizzard’s Objective Tracker.

When Vanguard is disabled, Blizzard’s own tracker is restored.

The old MidnightObjective V1 presentation is retired, while proven backend systems remain in use where needed.

Quest Tracking

MidnightObjective V2 provides a cleaner way to follow normal quests.

Features include:

Campaign quests are separated from normal zone/expansion sections so they are easier to follow and are never duplicated.

World Quests

World Quests are integrated directly into Vanguard.

Depending on the World Quest, Vanguard can show:

• Group Finder action
• completion status

World Quest Group Finder support opens the appropriate Premade Groups search for the selected quest.

Dungeons

When entering a dungeon, Vanguard automatically switches to the relevant dungeon presentation.

• group size
• boss list
• boss portraits
• boss completion states
• encounter summary
• clean instance-only presentation

Normal quest clutter is hidden while dungeon content is active unless relevant quest content needs to be shown.

Mythic+

Mythic+ receives a dedicated live tracker.

Features include:

• Mythic+ level
• live timer
• time limit
• +3 / +2 / +1 / depleted pace
• death count
• death-time penalty
• Enemy Forces percentage
• optional raw forces
• affixes
• boss progress
• boss portraits
• smooth live updates

The timer and resource information update independently without constantly rebuilding the full tracker.

Raids

Vanguard supports both modern and older raid content.

Features include:

• raid name
• difficulty
• group size
• encounter list
• boss portraits
• boss completion status
• Encounter Journal recovery for older raids

For legacy raids where Blizzard exposes only generic scenario information, Vanguard can recover the encounter list from Encounter Journal data.

Delves

Delves have a dedicated Vanguard presentation.

Features include:

• Delve name
• Delve progress
• Stage X / Y
• objective count
• live objective progress
• count-based objectives such as 4 / 7
• percentage-based objectives
• completed objective markers
• deaths
• revive information when reliably available
• boss information
• reward-room handoff
• 100% completion state

Delve progress is preserved across stage transitions rather than resetting whenever a new stage begins.

Battlegrounds

Vanguard includes a dedicated Battleground presentation.

Supported information includes:

• Battleground name/type
• Alliance/Horde score
• resources
• lead
• live timer
• alive/dead player counts
• objective advice
• match prediction

Additional support includes:

• flag capture scores
• flag possession state
• flag carriers when reliably available
• base/resource battlegrounds
• orb battlegrounds
• carts
• Azerite battlegrounds
• Epic Battleground presentation

Live score and timer information is updated without rebuilding the entire tracker.

Smooth Structural Animations

Vanguard includes a custom structural animation engine.

Animation modes:

• Off
• Fast
• Smooth

Instead of simply fading the finished tracker, Vanguard can smoothly move rows from their old positions to their new positions.

This includes:

• section expand/collapse
• quest movement
• objective reveals
• tracker height changes
• content transitions

The system is designed so live timers and constantly changing numerical values do not repeatedly trigger distracting animations.

Two tracker presentation styles are currently available:

Midnight

The stronger Midnight card-based presentation.

Midnight Clean

A flatter, lighter presentation with reduced backgrounds and accents, tighter spacing, and stronger typography.

Blizzard Objective Tracker Fallback

MidnightObjective V2 is designed as a replacement, not a permanent takeover.

Vanguard enabled

Vanguard disabled

• Blizzard Objective Tracker returns

This allows you to switch between Vanguard and Blizzard’s native tracker without reloading the UI.

MidnightObjective V2 has gone through extensive combat and transition testing.

Special attention has been given to:
