HelloRogue

A lean, opinionated ability manager for WoW Classic Era Rogues. It adapts its layout to your talents, switches securely into an opener bar while stealthed, recommends the next useful action, manages weapon coatings, and surfaces the combat information a Rogue actually watches — energy, combo points, weapon swings, maintenance timers, and melee range — without ever casting for you.

Heads up — this is a personal work in progress. I build and evolve it as I play, so features reflect my play style and may change between releases. Feedback is welcome, but HelloRogue intentionally remains focused and opinionated.

What it does

• Spec-adaptive bars. The combat grid follows your dominant Assassination, Combat, or Subtlety talent tree. Talent abilities you have not learned collapse away without disrupting the surrounding rows.

• Secure stealth layout. Entering Stealth or using Vanish swaps the grid to Pick Pocket, Cheap Shot, Ambush, Garrote, Sap, Distract, and Premeditation. The layout is prepared securely, so it can change during combat.

• Tells you what to press. An animated recommendation glow marks the highest-value action available. The practical leveling and dungeon priority handles Riposte windows, Slice and Dice, Rupture, Eviscerate, Hemorrhage, and Sinister Strike.

• Interrupt alerts. Kick lights up when your target begins an interruptible cast. Gouge is highlighted as a fallback when Kick is unavailable.

• Combat readouts. The cluster includes an energy bar, five combo-point indicators, separate main-hand and off-hand swing timers, and an in/out-of-melee-range display. Energy changes colour near the cap so you can spend it before regeneration is wasted.

• Maintenance tracking. Slice and Dice and Rupture use their button cooldown sweeps to show remaining duration. GCD and ability cooldown sweeps, resource tinting, out-of-range colouring, and combo-point counts are shown directly on the buttons.

• Weapon coatings. Configure the main hand and off hand independently for Instant, Deadly, Wound, Crippling, or Mind-numbing Poison. Each button uses the highest available rank, shows its inventory count and remaining enchant time, and lights up when the coating is missing or nearing expiry.

• Poison-immune targets. Select Weapon Stone when poisons are unsuitable. HelloRogue chooses the best available sharpening stone for a blade or weightstone for a mace.

• Utility and racials. Stealth, Vanish, Sprint, Evasion, Blind, coating controls, and your race’s active abilities sit together on the utility row.

• Cast bar. A compact player cast bar sits above the cluster for bandages, hearthstones, mounts, and other casts. Disabling it restores Blizzard’s cast bar.

• Your keybinds. Bind keys to physical on-screen slots with a hover-and-press editor. Bindings remain stable when talents collapse or stealth changes the visible layout.

Usage

• /hr — list the available commands.
• /hr config — open the settings panel.
• /hr bars [on|off] — show or hide the addon bars.
• /hr castbar [on|off] — toggle the compact player cast bar.
• /hr pos [lock|unlock|reset] — lock, move, or recenter the cluster.
• /hr keys — enter keybind mode; hover a button and press a key.
• /hr keys clear|reset — clear or restore the default bindings.
• /hr coat <mh|oh> <type> — configure a hand’s coating.
• /hr reset — reset all settings and reload the UI.

Available coating types are none, instant, deadly, wound, crippling, mind-numbing, and stone.

Caveats

• Only supports WoW Classic Era.
• Loads as a no-op on non-Rogue characters.
• No automatic casting or rotation botting — HelloRogue recommends and arranges actions; you press the buttons.
• The Classic API cannot reliably determine whether you are behind a target. Backstab remains available for manual use but is not automatically recommended.
• Temporary-enchant APIs expose whether a weapon is coated and for how long, but not a reliable coating identity. Applying the configured coating replaces the current temporary enchant.
• English spell, talent, aura, and item names are currently required.
• Purely additive: Blizzard and third-party action bars are left alone. The optional player cast bar is the only replacement UI.
• Opinionated defaults by design. HelloRogue provides one focused settings panel rather than a full profile editor.
