GearMatic

GearMatic is a cross-character equipped-gear and upgrade tracker for Classic WoW. It scores every piece of loot you see (in tooltips, on quest rewards, in the loot window, in your bags) against the best-in-slot piece you currently have equipped, using Pawn-format weights you can paste in from https://wowsims.github.io/. Drop a scale in once and every drop, every quest reward, and every vendor item gets a clear "+12% upgrade" / "-3% downgrade" marker.

Features

• Pawn-format scale import - paste a (Pawn: ...) string from wowsims into /gm import and you're scored. No manual stat-weight authoring.
• Tooltip / quest / loot / bag indicators - upgrade percent + a coloured chevron everywhere an item shows up in the UI. Sidegrades within +/- 1% are shown as neutral so you don't get false-positive arrows.
• Loadout window - paperdoll view of your current set, swap between saved scales, see exactly what each slot is worth.
• Auto-equip (optional) - automatically swap clear upgrades into your equipment. Hardened against the well-known "+100% over empty" pitfall: only swaps when both old and new score positive, the raw delta clears the configured minimum, and a live inventory cross-check confirms the slot isn't briefly nil from a transient API hiccup. You won't lose a shirt.
• Cross-character durability and equipped-gear tracking - log in on any character, see at a glance which alts have damaged armor or pieces below an item-level threshold.
• Spec-aware scoring - GearMatic auto-detects your spec on Classic flavors so you don't have to /gm import a fresh scale every time.
• See who else is running GearMatic (new in v2.1.0) - on login, GearMatic quietly says hello to other GearMatic users in your guild, party, and raid. /gm peers lists everyone running it in your group right now, with their version, so you can see at a glance who's on the same page.
• In-game changelog popup on first login after an update.
• Localized in enUS, enGB, deDE, esES, esMX, frFR, itIT, koKR, ptBR, ruRU, zhCN, zhTW.

GearMatic targets the live Classic clients (and a couple of legacy Classic builds for completeness):

• Mists of Pandaria Classic (5.5.x)
• Cataclysm Classic (4.4.x)
• Wrath / Titan Reforged (3.8.x)
• TBC Anniversary (2.5.x)
• Classic Era / Hardcore / Season of Discovery (1.15.x)

A note on Retail (Midnight 12.0+)

GearMatic is intentionally not supported on retail Midnight. Two reasons stack:

1. The wowsims toolchain (https://wowsims.github.io/) does not target retail, so the Pawn-format weights GearMatic relies on don't exist for Midnight specs. The addon's core "is this an upgrade for my spec" decision has nothing to read against on retail.
2. Blizzard's patch 12.0 combat-addon restriction broadly hostile-ifies the ecosystem this addon was designed to live in.

Retail will be reconsidered if/when wowsims publishes retail weights and Blizzard relaxes the addon API restrictions.
